Many of you may already know this, but I thought it was pretty weird regardless. Now keep in mind this is a scientific theory, not fact. It's believed that the majority of gold on our planet has sunk to the core over the years due to it's density, and virtually ALL of the gold mined came from asteroids. According to this theory, if you have gold, it came from outer space. This may not seem THAT weird but consider this: our planet just happened to get hit with multiple meteorites containing gold all across different areas of the Earth? Sounds strange to me...but I'm sure it didn't happen all at once.
100% of Earth came from space too. 93% of the mass of your body (40% of the atoms) is composed of the exploded remains from supernovas. The rest is atoms produced by the bigbang.
Is that the accepted theory by scientists ?. No wonder they believe in global warming I thought we were mostly made of water & replicated cells from our parents.
Now you're just taking the piss, right? Poe's Law in action. Sometimes it's hard to tell if people are serious.
"...virtually ALL of the gold mined came from asteroids." Just means I'm going to have to build me a giant asteroid catcher! .
The origins of poes law from the wiki page . "The statement called Poe's law was formulated in 2005 by Nathan Poe on the website christianforums.com in a debate about creationism. " Oh dear. I dont really subscribe to theories pete . They are just that THEORY you seem like u are well educated surely you know the meaning of the word theory. I prefer facts . If its theory i treat it as such.ie...grain of salt. How can anybody possibly prove without a doubt something that happened before human habitation of the earth ?. So the answer to your question is no poes theory wasnt in effect .. Poes theory lol what ? u learn something everday whether or not its useful is another story .
Even the Big Bang theory is just that, a theory. It's the most widely accepted theory of creation but that doesn't mean it's undeniably true, because we really don't know.
And the same thing goes for the gold/asteroid thing. There may be five citations backing the claim I read on Wikipedia suggesting that a wide variety of researchers/scientists believe this to be true, but they don't know. I would think they could be able to run some tests on the soil or something and determine if the gold and the matter it's ingrained in came from an asteroid or is native, or maybe just be able to tell if the different areas where gold is mined have been hit with large meteors or not. Otherwise the claim seems rather baseless.
You are right that the distinction between theory and fact is an important one. In regards to your earlier statement however, you will find that it is actually a fact that water and human cells are composed of smaller chemical elements. And those elements were created by nucleosynthesis. This also is a fact and can be reproduced if you have the right equipment. People have even created gold atoms (but it would cost billions of dollars to make an ounce of gold so it's not efficient). Lookup supernova nucleosynthesis. That's the source of most of the elements in our bodies. Of course, you could still claim all this is just a theory, but then hydrogen bombs would be just a theory too and I wouldn't want to be in the vicinity of a demonstration of that theory! The big bang is not "just" a theory. It is supported by extensive evidence including very conclusively pictures of the afterglow of the event itself, imprinted on the sky when the Universe was 380,000 years old. This explains your confusion:
I am not sure if the sun has ever set come on the sun is the sun. by the way we are look at, the world really has no foundation, it has certain forces hanging in space. the truth is really strange we do not understand it yet, does not mean it does not exist ie a fiction
''All brontosauruses are thin at one end, much, much thicker in the middle, and then thin again at the far end. That is the theory that I have, and which is mine, and what it is too." - Anne Elk ( Miss)
What i have the problem with is the theory that we are made of the atoms from the big bang millions of years ago .How do u know how old an atom is do they have growth rings ? How on earth could you possibly put an age on an atom ? Really is a fair bit of guess work going into that theory im afraid.
There is a dirth of mirth on this irth....mostly ( I discount cynicism and hyperbole... dickery as well) But this thread could break new ground . Bravo..to all contris...Especially Julie W..she kicks ass!
