Guys, A fellow Stacker offered to show me his sure fire way to test between real and fake bullion! Couldn't resist a test run so took a few questionable Panda's along for the ride. His test instrument appears very simple from first glance (only had one 'button' to operate) yet contained various engineered and precision components. It's operation is simple, but clearly some dedicated training to perfect it's operation - I have much to learn! The DUT (Device Under Test) would be buried 1/3 into the ground allowing to protrude without assistance. The test instrument would then be primed with the test unit at approx 50 metres distance. Below shows the results: Real Panda shows little distortion based on silver being soft and manipulable metal. [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/142_real_002.jpg][/imgz] [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/142_real_001.jpg][/imgz] Test was conducted on the possible fakes with the results below. [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/142_fake_004.jpg][/imgz] [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/142_fake_003.jpg][/imgz] [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/142_fake_002.jpg][/imgz] [imgz=http://forums.silverstackers.com/uploads/142_fake_001.jpg][/imgz] It is clear / concise outcome can be achieved from using this method! Fake bullion 'explodes' once contact is made from the test unit - real bullion bends or flexes only! The operator referred to the test as ".22 Cal" - have no idea why but only here to report facts I have negotiated a Silver Stackers special from the test instrument operator who can asset your items for $5 each plus P+P. You will be sent a photo via email capturing the results. Return postage optional depending on outcome. Can anyone let me know if the scratch in the first photo will cause any deprecation to the value of this Panda? Please note no Panda's were harmed in the marking of this post...
Not yet...not sure if the scratch will affect the price? You and I of all people CANT stand KFC fingers running wild across virgin bullion but whats a little dink? hardly even notice
NAH he want touch them now,not in it's original packaging, no numis value now  Unless you get it slabbed
ha ha, that's great. I'm not into these 'test instruments containing various engineered and precision components' but this was funny. Thanks
I can remember doing this when I bought my first .22 for my 14th birthday. I used the old Australian Penny as a target. I still have one somewhere here, 58 years later. My Penny has a neat hole right through the middle though! OC
OC I guess ammo isn't the same compared to 'old school' ? or maybe you were closer? That was standard velocity round - I think trying a hollow point would need a metal detector to find the shards would look just like shot... I'm really unsure what metal these fakes were made from to 'explode'? looks like zinc? but no real experience with this sort of thing? Nice with the Penny - would try it but being 'legal tender' could be in all sorts of shyte
