Yes minted at Das Bayerisches Mint in Munich, Germany. It is 1 of 5 Bavarian State Mints in operation for over 800 years. I just googled it otherwise I wouldn't have known!
APMEX sent me an email about the 2014s today. Starting at $27.26 US if you pay by check. I will get a roll when things improve. For now, the US Government has declared me "nonessential" and there is no sign that they will fix this anytime soon. No pay means no silver for me! Also, APMEX is also advertising their own year of the horse coin. Not bad looking for simple bullion.
The Elephants are awesome and appreciate quickly. Grab remaining 2013 for as cheaply as possible while some of the bigger retailers are selling the last of their stock. You can still get one for $30 but once the retailers run out it'll be a $40 coin. There's plenty of time to accumulate 2014s. I just completed the BU set (2004-2014). 2004-2008 have the lowest mintage and are quite rare. They are appreciating rapidly. I just purchased the above mentioned two coin day and night colored Elephant set. Only 500 minted and the ONLY way to acquire the "day" coin. The night coin can be purchased separately. I would imagine (hope) that with such a low mintage the 2 coin set makes a great investment. Next I will begin collecting the proofs, gilded and colored coins. Official mintage numbers, since 2010, for each these coins is 5000. I collect mainly as a hobby but also as an investment. I collect a wide variety of world coins and enjoy each one for their beauty, history and uniqueness. Besides a handful of other specific coins I haven't found a modern series that would make a better investment than the Somalia Elephants. I love Pandas and own several but the Elephants appreciate a greater amount and their minting Pandas into crazy high numbers. For a pure bullion play I love Libertads. They might not be the best deal but that's one sexy woman on the face of that coin. Cheers!
Being in the US I don't know what dealers in OZ sells them. The 2013s and 2014s I've purchased from Modern Coin Mart. I've purchased several Elephant coins from a source in Germany. I was wary at first since he was so far away and I was purchasing some pricey coins (well pricey to me). From day one he has been a pleasure to deal with. A first class experience all the way. He maintains a diverse stock of the special editions and earlier year coins as well as 2014s. He ships worldwide at a very affordable cost. His communication has always been prompt, he's professional and has shared a wealth of information about the Elephants with me. He also deals in Perth Mint and New Zealand products (which I'm sure you need no assistance) and the modern issues from Rwanda.
Can you PM me this dealer detail? I have large collection of these colored version and would like to add these two coin. http://forums.silverstackers.com/to...ife-elephant-series-silver-bullion-coins.html
Philaberlin has the colored set for 120 EUR http://philaberlin.de/Numismatik/So...014-Wildlife-Elefant-2-1-Oz-Silber::1849.html
Hi mate. Would it be okay to use a couple of these to finish off my Elephant article? It's hard to find images of the 1999-2003 coins. I can post the tidied up pictures back here if you wish. Example below. Thanks. Source:
