Not sure if anyone else has noticed, but the PM is 'sold out' - not just out of stock - of the Gilded Lunar Dragons. The rest are still available, hopefully this may mean that in future years there may be some more love for the gilded?
I think there is XXX number of gilded dragons capsule only floating round out there, only the boxed version would be sold out.
The gilded has a total mintage of 50000, split between packaged and capsule only. PM site doesn't state how many will be boxed/coa, only that the total mintage will be split between the two. Would be suprised if the PM not supplying the boxed version anymore (which it charges more for) and only releasing the plain coin - which is currently unavailable. At the end of the day, I got the gilded coins because I like them and i'm making up a few sets to give to the grandkids one day - unless of course there is a sudden worldwide craze for australian gilded lunars in which case I will sell them all at a huge profit and gloat here on SS about how I picked it when no one else did
Yeah if you are buying just a couple of any coin then a move of $5 or $20 hardly matters does it? You have bought the coin for its collector value to you. If you are buying 100 or something with a view for selling at profit at some later stage then thats different.
I love the gilded series very much, look even better as a set, personally I think it is more elegant than the colour proof, at least the coins contain 24 carat gold instead of of ink, a set that I'm collecting to keep and not selling
APMEX have gilded Dragons for $58.93/ea in capsule w/CoA. >1500 in stock. http://www.apmex.com/Product/64453/2012_Year_of_the_Dragon___1_oz_Gilded_Silver_Coin_S2_Capsule.aspx Still no love!
No, the link you posted is for capsule coin only, NOT proof, so NO COA. The proof gilded coin with COA and box will cost a little less than $80, yet, about 20% cheaper than the one I bought. Talk about deflation
Perth mint releases lunar gilded coins in two packagings. One with box and the other without. Both come with capsule and COAs. Neither coins were proofs. Not too long ago, when the 300,000 lunar bullions were sold out in 2 business days, many dealers turned to the gilded coins and bulk-buy up to the mintage (50,000), causing it to be the first gilded to be sold out. Now they probably realise it doesn't move as fast and the price has been coming down since. There might be a third variant without the COA. But the version from APMEX did mentioned . But given that it might be the only (easy) set for future collectors to make a full series, I would presume the price to appreciate slowly as we move towards 2019. Revlisify
