Ok so I might of been taking the piss a lil with this thread, I realise there is plenty of computer geeks here (being an internet forum and all) but equally i see there are plenty of people who aren't exactly the most tech literate getting into crypto currencies.

Theft of coins has been a big problem in the past and will continue to be in the future.

ALWAYS use two factor authentication on exchanges, if you don't who what it is or how to use it find out.

Keeping your wallets stored outside of the pc you use every day is also important aswell.

Fast usb thumb drive is only about $25 (Sandisk extreme 16gig usb 3)

Install linux mint/ubuntu on it with electrum and you have a cheap alternative to having a second PC that is offline except for when you want to make a transaction

Paper wallets in safe deposit box, protected against any possible water damage.

Makes panic selling a little harder.

With an electrum seed can have an:

    offline wallet

    paper back up

brain wallet (easier to remember words as opposed to random characters)

Brain wallets were a thing of yesterday, until people now realize how unsafe they are. Many brainwallets get insta-hacked, because we as humans to not generate completely random pass phrases. Your pass phrase can be a whole paragraph long, but if you can read it and make sense of words or sentences, then it's not truly random.

using your electrum seed as a brain wallet ;)

its random collection of words, but isn't an impossible arrangement of characters to remember

    eg..

freedoom chair soft elemental ring etc...

instead of human generated; marry had a little lamb its fleece was white as snow
