Take the coin to a well light room to eliminate having to use the flash, Then place an upside down glass from the kitchen cabinet on a bar stool preferable a dark wood to increase contrast then enrol in a photography course and learn how to use a smart phone camera. Thanks in advance. Edit: a short nod at how shitty the FWS looks, indeed a more menacing image would have got my vote.
Sorry I now give up! lol made no difference going further away with zoom or taking off centre! I added the latest to the original photo but I suppose people will get the idea that it is not frosted like the croc or artist impression but shiny token like.
No thanks I will leave that to all the "Freddy No Friends" I will be sure to pass on your info though lol No flash was used during the making of my FWS pics lol
Yeah I don't like it as much either now that they got rid of the frosting....was going to buy some....now ill buy 1
Thanks for the photos. Love this coin. To all those who are like '"um no frosting I'll just get one'' remember this is a series you don't want the funnel web to turn into another mouse.   (actually yes I do, just get one of these they sux )
Not sure why they changed the finish from a frosted finish as per the image released to this proof like finish. Maybe we could get Ron to explain. I actually didn't mind the frosted finish for a bullion coin.
Would be nice if they showed the artist the coin before they produced an artists rendition'. At least that way the pictures would be more realistic and help with pre orders. Although I seem to remember reading in the Perth Mint coin release that this coin was going to a 'proof like finish.' Any one got the link? It will be interesting to see what my customers say when they come and pick up their orders.
No its not mirror finish like the 2014 Brit at all just "New Shiny shiny" well this one "was" when i first started taking pics of it but now its been through the wars with my grubby hands and various surfaces lol I am not a Numi person so not sure what "Proof like" is? I think it looks very similar to the Perth Mint one ounce tokens/medallions I have. What you cant see in the pics is it sort of has no depth! although Her Maj and the spider are raised the writing and numbers are not raised and bold like say a kook but look thin and sort of weak minted in instead as if the die,s were thinner and shallower at the writing/number parts? The Spider itself has quite good detail and is well raised against the flat ness but the detail of the leg hairs get lost because the entire coin is the same finish. Also whats with the "P" mark being at such a strange angle in relation to the spider and the first circle rim? looks like it was put on as an afterthought? Possibly best a Numi person looks at one as my opinion may differ from those who know coins and finishes. I have a few and doubt I will get any more but it isnt nearly as bad as this years RCM bird of prey! That thing looks like the wings were drawn with a straight edge by a child lol makes me not want to bother with the next bird!
I like these , going to pick some up for sure. Getting tired of the birds and animal bullion, the spider is a welcome change.
