Placing a wholesale order this evening, and The Perth Mint has already sold out of a number of sizes in gold and silver Dragons. The following coins are no longer available wholesale: 1kg gold[/*] 10oz gold[/*] 2oz gold[/*] 1kg silver[/*] Last week there were close to 1000 silver kilo Dragons available for distributors - rang today, all gone.
Was actually after a 10oz gold Dragon - bummed they were gone. Surprised that the 2oz were gone as well. Was a bit like playing "fish" trying to put an order in! 2012 1oz Kangaroos are also sold out. Can't order 2013 Roos for a few weeks yet.
No, minting has ceased - what's left at wholesale for purchase by distributors is the last of them. That snuck up didn't it?
goldpelican, that must be just the gold dragons??? David Kerbey on the Perth Mint Blog site says this about the silver dragons: As per previous statements, however, we can manufacture 10oz, 5oz, 2oz and 1/2oz Dragon silver bullion coins until the end of 2012, primarily to satisfy any further wholesale demand from our national and international distributors. http://www.perthmintbullion.com/au/...Days_Left_To_Secure_Dragon_Bullion_Coins.aspx
And the kilo dragon can be reminted any time until 2019 They might get a big order later in the year if the kilo snakes don't sell
1kg are open mintage till end of series II 2019... I until horse has ended I doubt there is any demand for such a thing (post sept 2015)
Am on a mobile now and too hard to track down ref on Perth mint site right now This has been discussed before in other threads Mintages of all the kilo coins in lunar series 2 will be declared at end series So they can all be reminted at any time Perth mint has shown they are prepared to reminted anything if the get a large enough order
That's what I told them but the disagreed.. Have held the hope of buying the set in 1kg (dreaming!)'at some stage.
Hadn't read that blog post - makes sense though as those size silver coins were still available for wholesale order. Couldn't place an order for kilos though, or any of the aforementioned gold size coins.
Yep - found the ref in an earlier post by rbaggio in another thread.... Obviously whoever you were talking to was just talking crap. REF: http://www.perthmintbullion.com/bullion-brochure/silver-bullion-brochure-2012.pdf I don't think you'd have any trouble making a kilo set of the series (except financially that is). I wouldn't be paying any sort of premium for series 2 kilo lunars until after 2019 Gold stackers still have the kilo dragon on their site - I assume that means they've still got stock (for now at least) ?
I have an e-mail tucked away from the mint stating they will not mint anymore kilos after the year of release concludes. Tells me to find them with distributors.. Will be keeping a few copies of this in various places!
