To those who have owned 1oz certicards, those who have recently bought them and the site sponsors who have them on hand - what is the packaging like?

Its made of 2 pieces of plastic glued together - have you ever had some where they dont align well?

what do you guys think? i was expecting better. serial numbers are 2652xx

the dark bit on the outer rim is lint caught on the glue

I have had that. It didn't overly bother me.

However I think that the certicards take up to much space but that's just me being a little funny. I did hide one when I'd been drinking. Took me ages to find it again

I have 2 x 1oz PM certicards with that same serial number 2652xx. The peel-off film is in rubbish condition around the edges - as delivered from forum sponsor. Mine make yours look perfect. Not too concerned, bar is in great condition.

The peel off film is just that - peel off film. When they come from the mint it is already bubbled and peeling around the edges. 5g and 10g cards don't even come with it. Just leave it intact to prevent the card itself from being scratched up to preserve resale value.

Re the card edges not being aligned - haven't seen it before, but it's probably just a QC issue with the Certicards itself. I sincerely doubt the mint would accept one back for "warranty".

Thanks for clearing that up GP. I had no idea what it should look like. Never owned one before last year, and never had the pleasure of actually opening one up.

Rechecked, and card edges on mine look slightly misaligned just like picture above (minus the lint bonus). Not at all worried, and never even noticed before.

my statement was more directed at the package itself opening as per the post above. you would expect the packaging to be intact after 1 week

Problem may arise if you want sell it and the new buyer want to assay the gold because the package looks like tampered. That reduces value and cost money. The purpose of the certicards first of all is the authority of a genuine product, and not just packaging like other consumer products, because the card never supposed to be opened.
For this reason I would definitely complain.

For clarity - are the two halves of the card separated with a gap between them, or just slightly misaligned?

The rounded corner on a Certicard is only about 5-6mm - trying to figure out where the 2mm comes from.

A tampered Certicard is grossly evident - the packaging is designed to look destroyed if opening is attempted.

I missed the 2mm bit. Mine have no gap or seperation between card, just slight misalignment by <1mm (nowhere near 2mm). No way has it been tampered with.
