http://www.powercoin.it Benin is a small country in Africa. They were about $109 Euro I think? Beautiful coin...
No purity or weight on the coin. Does this mean it's a general circulation currency coin? Regardless of the pretty design, I'd be extremely wary of something that either doesn't have recognition as government backed legal tender (and therefore with weight and composition government backed) or doesn't have weight and purity clearly marked. But that's just my cynical side showing through. Nice design though. (<< still hasn't bought a single dragon coin of any sort and probably won't)
I agree about no weight and purity, but is 1000 francs cfa not backed by a gov?? Country Benin Year 2012 Face Value 1000 Francs Metal Silver Fineness (purity) 999/1000 Weight (g) 20 Diameter (mm) 38.61 Quality Proof Mintage (pcs) 888 Certificate (COA) Yes Presentation case (box)Yes
888 Mintage FTW! Edit: Lets do a group buy through Maggie and with SS buy out the entire mintage!!! That would be baller.
That is kinda weird that it doesn't say anywhere on the coin that it's silver, or its fineness. What other pure silver coins neglect to do so?
This is my point. If it's a government issue coin for general circulation and trade, then it doesn't need it. But if it's a ROUND (ie non government backed) then you really should have it clearly marked. Hence why I asked if it's a government coin or not. Makes a big difference. I have no problems with rounds per say, but without a clear unit of measure and purity clearly on it, I wouldn't touch it - too much of a hassle if a potential buyer wants it assayed down the track, especially at these asking prices. Even if there was a certificate that went with it to assay the round, there's no specific indicator that the two go hand in hand (ie no serial number or common identifier). So yeah... lovely design but I think I'd give it a miss on first glance.

Yeah, I'm not really one for coloured coins either. I like the design, but I think I'll stick with junk silver myself.

Found it: http://www.lyqbw.com/productshopxp.asp?id=754 7147 RMB for a 500g; around $1063 AU. "Member only price", whatever that means. The street price according to them is 7368 RMB.
