Seen two of these traded on the forum in the last few days, with a few more advertised recently.

Right now I think they're cheap.

Have seen prices of $1140 and $1150 - I bought one set at these prices. It was not long ago that 20 sets were snapped up at $1200.

The 1oz Dragon alone is ~$160 (recently traded two on here for 1/10oz gold each), and the Snake, Horse and Tiger should fetch $120+, leaving 8 coins averaging just $85 ea to make a set worth $1200. Personally I think they should be closer to $1400 a set for fair value.

Not saying this to cast dispersions on the recent sales (they've all sold), but to highlight that this set appears to be undervalued a couple of hundred bucks right now.

I was looking at past sales for silver lunars last week and saw a S1 set had sold for around $750. Somebody got a deal.

Seems like the demand has slowed. Maybe more people focusing on Series II currently? I've noticed that Ebay sales of the sets have slowed. And auctions I've been watching have actually had the Buy-it-Now prices lowered. I agree that these sets are definitely undervalued. $1200 still seems like a bargain even. Prices for the individual coins is definitely trending up, so I'm not sure why the sets wouldn't be. In some cases you might even be able to profit off of buying a set and reselling individually.

    Hi Guys,
Though I'm a newbie, am I missing something here.
Doesn't the S1 ounce Silver start in 1999 to 2007 and there are 9 coins in Series?
    Won't that lower the value?
Is my math wrong, and am I missing somink... (as stated I'm crazy) :/
Just a thought, I could be wrong.
    Cheers
    Aum

It does but there were 3 coins minted in 2007 - these are 'double dated' that is 2007 on one side and 08, 09 and the tiger in 10 on the other side making a full set of 12 lunar coins

Elaborating on Elemental's post. There is the 2007/2008 Rat, 2007/2009 Ox, and 2007/2010 Tiger. These three have different designs than the current Series II coins.

So, if going by the date on the animal side of the coins, there are 12 coins ranging from 1999-2010.

When buying the Rat, Ox and Tiger, you will want to be aware of what series they are because Series I is a smaller diameter coin and the styling is different.

I do want one of these sets, and agree they seem to be going for cheap.
Unfortunately, I just cannot outlay that amount at the moment.
Hoping they stay a little cheap :)

    heyimderrick,
Thanks for clearing that up, as 'double dated' had me wondering as the coin is "legal tender" ;)
Still puts the Series out of step (IMHO) and another strange action by Perth Mint.
Seen quite a few, that make me scratch my head, maybe it's just me.
Thanks for the info, from both you guys.
    Cheers

@ AUM, no problem. It is funny, but I heard the reason they did this was because the popularity of the gold series was greater than expected, so they began the silver series late (?), and therefore they had to mint the final three in the same year to get caught up.

@ Retardedmonkey. Shoot me a PM when you are ready for a set. I have quite a few and think we could probably work something out.

    Hi Aum,

Have a look at the presentation here -> http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-13213-slideshare-perth-mint-lunar-coins.html

Helps explain the Series I dates.
