White gold wedding/anniversary band with 1 carat total weight diamond, gold gent's ring with 1 carat solitaire diamond...
lol @ those printed dollars anyways. Beautiful looking rings though! Wouldn't mind having one like that, on a platinum band.
Thanks. Don't really do much jewelry (a handful at the most). I agree on platinum jewelry. I like that it is so low key and unexpected that folks think it's silver or white gold at the most. My wife's favorites among her jewelry are platinum.
On the subject of silver... A 1951 Festival of Britain Crown (CuNi composition), a silver Ichthus ring (.925 Ag) & a Mochie marble/Shaman stone (Fe oxide concretion around a sandstone core)
You may be right but where I work the reason why we stock zero platinum items are because... 1) historically it has always been much dearer than white gold for the same "look" 2) the jewellers HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE TO WORK WITH IT 3) it becomes brittle when you 'play' with it for resizing and the like 4) much higher melting temp, see point three 5) softer so customers tend to knock them around more so they complain if small diamonds pop out as claws are softer on psve setting and the like. shiny.
SS, thanks for the info on Pt. I'll be sure to keep a watchful eye on the wife's platinum jewelry with gemstones.
