the Anglo-American power elite are not interested in borders

"The blame game is an especially difficult affliction for those who cluster about the power elite. It is when they learn the difference between power that is held and power that rubs off. There are hundreds of functionaries that cluster close to the power elite in the City of London. There are thousands in the next concentric ring, and so on. All benefit from the radiance of those intergenerational banking families at the center of the system, but when times are tough and scapegoats are needed the blame is apportioned outward, much as it is in the military. Those at the center remain unscathed while those in the outer rings are exposed to injury."

    Well well well .....

THE criminal case against ex-IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn, accused of sexually assaulting a New York hotel maid, is reportedly on the verge of collapsing.

The New York Times, citing two unnamed law enforcement officials close to the case, said prosecutors did not believe much of the story told by the French politician's Guinea-born accuser, and that she had repeatedly lied to them since the May 14 alleged attack.

Prosecutors will likely tell the court later today, when Strauss-Kahn is set to make an unexpected reappearance ahead of the next scheduled hearing on July 18, that they "have problems with the case,'' in contrast to their once steel confidence in the evidence against him, according to The Times.

At the hearing, Justice Michael Obus was expected to consider a change in the bail conditions under which Strauss-Kahn was released to house arrest - including 24-hour security monitoring and an ankle bracelet.

"It is a mess, a mess on both sides,'' one official told The Times.

The revelations could prove an extraordinary turn-around for former IMF director, as the newspaper said he could be released from house arrest due to questions surrounding his accuser.

The newspaper said law enforcement officials had uncovered questions related to the 32-year-old hotel maid's asylum application, and unconfirmed links to criminal activity, such as involvement with money laundering and drug dealing.

There was a recorded phone conversation between the maid and a man in prison on marijuana possession charges about the "possible benefits" of pursuing charges against Strauss-Kahn, the officials said.

The man was one of a number of people who had deposited a total sum of $US100,000, into the accuser's bank account over the last two years.

And despite telling investigators her asylum seeker application contained details of a previous rape, they could not find any such account.

Strauss-Kahn, a French national, has denied all seven charges including trying to rape the woman and sexually assaulting her when she came to clean his hotel suite in a luxury Manhattan hotel.

Very convenient for a certain head of state (who married a former model) that his most prominent opponent is accused of a heinous crime, only months from an election.

Very convenient that Christine Lagarde (former French Finance Minister) was confirmed as the new Managing Director of the IMF this week, and the case against DSK collapses right afterwards.

I'll expect DSK may have a 'tragic' automotive accident this week.

    Or a 'tragic' stroke.

Or accidentally consume a rare type of innocent-looking white-fleshed mushroom in his salad - of course, a tragic accident.

Looks like NYC is a dangerous place for influential bankers:

I read elsewhere that this man is a friend of Strauss Kahn and most likely they have shared information on the state of the world's economies etc. One would presume that any announcement by either of IMF or bank impropriety would be dismissed out of hand.

Or it's another maid in it for the money. Easy target those 74 year old big businessmen.

Both b and c I think. Either that or she didn't know who he was and how much of a shitstorm she would create with her latest mark. Either way, he's innocent in my eyes.
