    It's back to the past.
These young people don't trust banks keeping their money in cash, under the bed, in gold etc.
Isn't that what a lot of older people did - didn't trust bank and kept money in their mattresses?

How They Manage Their Own Money

The Occupy Wall Street protests, organized by Adbusters and hacker group Anonymous, are now in their fourth day. Set up in Zucotti Park on Liberty Street, demonstrators are expressing their disappointment with the major banks' handling of the financial crisis and their involvement in politics.

Though organizers say they are hoping to create an "American Tahrir Square," after the major demonstration in Egypt's overthrow of Hosni Mubarak, participation in the protest has been well short of the 20,000-person goal, and has dwindled considerably from Saturday's showing.

In light of their resistance to the banks and financial infrastructure in America, Business Insider went down to Wall Street yesterday to ask the few dozen protesters how they manage their own money. See what they had to say.

Yep, I don't trust the banking system to hold my dollars any more, although that said, fiat under the bed isn't safe either these days as we near a probable collapse. Unfortunately, until that time hits, one is still forced to keep an amount of fiat on hand to pay the bills.
