G'day. I signed up today after poking round for a few days. I was was wondering, is there any guidelines to conducting trades here? I looked in the Rules, and also the FAQ. All I could really see was: But I don't see any sticky thread relating to that in the trading forum. I have no experience in one on one trades like you seem to do here & wanted a general idea of what to expect/do. Thanks
Can't see them either... But this link should help http://forums.silverstackers.com/topic-21793-face-to-face-trading-page-1.html As you're new you might have to do a few trades first to build trust. Members are wary about trading with random people as the trades can be of high value and it's always best to mitigate risk. Anyway, I always recommend doing the f2f in a bank. After making sure all the details of the potential trade have been confirmed (condition of item, price, trading expectations etc) I'll call the buyer for a general chat. At the bank I'll sit closest to the door, ready to chase a runner! I'll show the buyer the item and if they're happy, they'll deposit the cash at the tellers window with me beside them. Simples.
Thanks everyone and thanks House. I probably used the wrong wording. I meant more like trading one on one via a forum and PMs, not face to face, sorry. For example, I see many threads with someone offering something and just saying "PM me", and then people say "PM sent". So I was wondering about the general etiquette, things like how do people expect payment in these online situations? Does anyone use alternative things like bitcoin? I suppose it's mostly bank transfers and Paypal?
Most people here will trade/swap/sell using direct bank deposits or f2f but I rarely see people using the bitcoins here.
Ok cheers. I might do a post on the "Goods for barter" thread when I get a minute - seems like a suitable place. Appreciate the help.
