Hello all, new member here. I've been lurking around SS for about 2 weeks and finally thought I'd sign up. Still doing my research, already bought Maloney's Guild to Investing in Gold and Silver. Enjoying that so far. Bought it online through Dymocks - $25 plus postage, not too dissimilar from Amazon and took less than a weeks' delivery. Yet to make a first bullion purchase, as I said still doing my research. Have a couple of numismatics and despite the pitfalls want to explore selling a few new numismatics (Eg PM Bulgarian Dragon) to fund my Bullion. Don't know if people get to be as pedantic as this but as an accountant I've made a spreadsheet with most of the common sizes of Ag/Au and Pl that breaks down prices/spot to work out premiums in $ and as a % of purchase price. Does anyone else do that?
Proto or catholic anglosaxon? We don't take kindly to some folk round these parts. But welcome anyway.
Welcome AngloSaxon. Many of the folk here need the guidance of an accountant. Spreadsheets!!! Crikey! You're getting a bit techo already, most of us can't work the basic functions of an Excel worksheet  (jk) Glad to have you on board. Please tell us what numiies you have and what you are looking at as your first bullion purchases? Gold? - Silver? - Platinum? - other??? Cheers H
Thanks all for the welcomes! mmm...shiney: Proto...should I hide? Holdfast, when I said a couple of numis I'll admit I meant exactly that. Literally 2 numis from PM (1x 1oz Famous Battles and one other) that I think I got for a good price online and will be keeping for personal reasons. I haven't let all the abundance of boldly coloured and overvalued coins get into my head and carry me away. As nice as two-tone 1kg snakes with a gemstone in the eye are... Initially looking at purchases of silver in 20x1oz coins (Kooks, Maples etc) and in 100oz or 1kg bars. Also looking for the same and gold 1oz coins and bars, in the future when I pull my finger out and get organised for SMSF. Possibly platinum Platypuses for the SMSF when I've been in the market enough when I know the best time to buy. As for being an accountant..I've been looking at legitimacy of accounts...not in measuring value. So this is an exciting new area to research. But I don't want to be mixing work with pleasure. Because then everything is work. However I DO enjoy (bizarre, I know) looking up legislation and anticipate doing a lot in terms of SMSF. Weird, huh. So far SS has been a great resource and I'm keen to jump in.
Welcome Anglo. Member "haveblue" is into spreadsheets such as yours, why don't you do a search of him and maybe you might want to send him a message (a pm or an email)?

G'darvy Anglo Saxon, I'm going to have a go at making one of those spreadsheets, thank you. I'm a presbytyrian by ritual but I have a Viking name so I stick to that. Am I in or out?
