PM sent - still down for it, as I think are a few others. Sounds like a good trip.

Had been tempted by a few trips with Norths Lapidary but this looks by far better - specially with fellow stackers! :)

i'm genuinely keen just for the social exercise more than any hope of striking it rich, but weekends are totally hopeless for me, a monday is a possibility but most likely won't work out for everyone else..

i had a look on the Google map where Deep Creek was ?! When i put that into perspective from where i am living, its kinda far for me to drive in one direction. how much for a mini bus or something?!

Greenbank to Gympy is similar to if i were in Bosnia and told my friends, Hey guys lets drive to Hungary and go
    gold panning?!
    hahhaha

its just too far, and as everyone knows, the possibility of 8 guys 'panning' on the creek bed for
4 hours each total and i doubt we would find anything. Might as well drive to Tamborine Mountains and
pan in their creeks - same likelihood of striking it ( nil :) ) but i didnt spend that much fuel, car attrition, and time.

See below for a response i got on finders.com.au ( our cousins gold fossickers forum :)

Brisbane is pretty sparse gold wise. Mt Coottha and the Enoggera Ck. catchment has a number of hard rock mines and there were reports of nuggety gold in the creeks in the old days. I have heard reliable stories of good gold coming from these creeks in recent years, but it is pretty much all National Park/State Forest.

Outside that there are gold bearing creeks in the Sunshine Coast hinterland and Warwick. The real gold more or less starts at Rocky and north or around the border near Casina/Drake and south.

    hope it helps a bit

Yeah, personally I was thinking it would be more worth the effort for a full weekend trip to Drake/Casino/Tabulam. More realistic chances of finding some gold there...
