    Can't help but notice the non-standard log-scale they are using which has the potential to distort the data.

    Also not too fond of the radically simplistic 'formula', which appears to be the ratio of current market spot value of declared US Gold Reserves over M2 currency supply.

    I'm guessing whoever wrote that is trying to tap into the emotions associated with ^VIX (commonly called the 'Fear Index' by MSM), which measures forward-looking volatility in the commodity markets.

    The above two seem to be apples and oranges here.
