Found a neat way to display alluvial nuggets - pop them into an airtite!

The airtite pictured is the 1oz Nugget size from Maggie - the contents are 4 grams of alluvial nuggets from Eureka Moments I received as part of a recent trade (they XRF'd 97%+ - basically 23.5K gold), as well as two larger flat nuggets about 0.3g each found by my wife and myself a few years ago on a detector course.

Nice little show and tell piece :)

Considering the size, it's more likely a rabbit or even a mouse that 'laid' those little gems ;)

That little container has $230+ in spot value alone - EM's recent auction shows the premium that can be obtained on clean collectible nuggets.

But yes, most are match head sized. They obviously add up though.

The older, as well as lots of newer prospectors call this size gold "flyshit". They only chase the bigger lumps.

They reckon the GPX 5000 finds "antshit". :)

I normally package my nuggets for postage in such a way that they wont get damaged using layers of mini-bags and bubblewrap. I used to ship in nifty little black plastic display cases until an envelope was stomped on intransit and the plastic case broke and pierced the padded envelope. Part of the shipment went AWOL.

However I can send the auction winners nuggets in a 1oz round case if the winner would like that. Top way to keep a small collection. I use 10 gram plastic cosmetic sample holders. Screwtop is easy to open/close and they are deeper than airtights. These hold an ounce comfortably and good for stashing as well.

Sure does, I found this little beauty 3 inches below the surface with my 5000. They reckon if you can find it with a detector, "It's a nugget"

They also look good in tall glass cylinders with the compulsory red velvet. Like this little 874.82 troy ounce nugg. We call a nugget this size "brontosaurus shit".

Wow. You have got a really nice collection of nuggets. And those two round ones are quite special, resembling pearls. What makes them special is that the rounding is natural, and you know it. The gold pearls would be wonderful if set in a custom made piece of jewellry for a loved one.

Awesome! I never knew this was a viable source of gold.

What do I have to feed my flies / brontosaurus / self in order to produce those specimens ?

You can try feeding on bullshit but it only results in poor quality fakes or nuggets of very low purity.
