I got this from QLD police facebook page this morning. Please forward through your networks if you think it would help! Posting also in the gold section. Toowoomba Police are seeking the assistance from the public to identify the owner of a number of gold ingots, silver bars and rare Australian coinage. The currency was handed to police after they were left at a business in Toowoomba by a middle aged man on June 28. To date, enquiries made to identify the owner have been unsuccessful. Detective Inspector Brett Schafferius is hopeful that an owner can be located, 'We would certainly like to reunite the owner with these valuables', he said. Any person who believes they are the owner or knows who the owner of the property is are asked to contact Toowoomba Police Station on 4631 6333 during office hours. Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers anonymously via 1800 333 000 or crimestoppers.com.au 24hrs a day. Crime Stoppers is a charitable community volunteer organisation working in partnership with the Queensland Police Service.
Well if someone hands the lot in, and the police publicly say they have them and want to locate the owner, then maybe the poor bugger's luck is changing?
I'll be giving them a call this afternoon to see if they want a lift valuing it, and also if they're taking offers if its unclaimed
Wasn't there a bunch of PM's in this format knocked off from the wall cavity of that flood victim's house in nearby Grantham?
I guess I'll have to fess up. I was showing her what a heavy weight i was at the time one thing lead to another! Could one of you locals pop in and square things with the gendarms at Toowoomba and ask them to forward to P O Box..........
The worrying thing is the owner may have a hard time proving its theirs unless they have invoices or some kid of record.... I guess providing a detailed inventory might be sufficient.
