I wonder if you doubled the CO^2 whether plants would grow better in more hostile environments... wait a minute I don't need to wonders as scientific (real science) tests have been done to prove they do... who wouldda thunk?

Interesting that the scientists that have asked the obvious question "CO2 has never been a climate driver in Earth's history, so why is it now? are being ignored. An inconvenient truth perhaps?

Bring back compulsory National Service & stiff booted parade marches to commemorate ANZAC Day. Let's have the worlds latest & greatest Military hardware on display before it's too late & we get overun by the would be new owners of Australia.

I read that article (that started the thread) and see China telling Australians that it knows Australia is dependent on it and if we want to keep up any level of prosperity derived through the resource trade with China and our only source of revenue, it had better play nice "especially without exception to Chinese stateowned enterprises".

You know, if we don't hurry up and get sorted we are going to be served on toast to China when the US$ collapses. It is good to know we have some of the top minds in Australia on the job (sarcasm) . . .

If you can understand that first sentence you're living on a different planet to me. But that second sentence is a clanger! He is arguing that if we don't introduce a Carbon tax countries we export to (China) will impose import duties on our exports . . . do you understand what he is saying? Do you? He is identifying exactly what Australia should do to the high polluting, child exploiting Chinese imports if we actually cared about the ecology, human rights or our competitiveness and saying that the Chinese will impose tarrifs on our resource exports. He is using the very thing we should be forcing on Chinese imports, but don't, as a fear based driver to support the Carbon tax because the Chinese will do it to us.

This guy is demonstrating just how conniving he is. He can't make sense when he speaks and sprouts obviously duplicitous statements. The lap dog media soak it up and regurgitate it without challenging him and so it perpetuates.

We best get ready for a one child policy to complement our Carbon tax I reckon.

By the way, Hugh White is Professor of Strategic Studies and Head of the Strategic & Defence Studies Centre at the Australian National University. This is the go to guy for commentary on the "war on terror as well.
