Are solar panels hail resistant?...are they covered by standard home or contents insurance?

It is recognised that other planets in the solar system are also warming. What next an intergalactic carbon tax?

i asked a solar panel rep if they are solar flare resistant and that conversation went south real fast.

If it eventuates those polytick-ians will slither into their underground bunkers to avoid the sunburn. If any of us peons survive, we need to seal those fockers in their holes. :)

    Thumbs up.

Energy and food prices are already rising. No need for a tax to do it.

Is it? It's hard enough to get agreement that this planet is warming, and you know for sure that other planets in the solar system are warming? Source?

ok i admit that i havent personally gone to jupiter but ...

    http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap080523.html
Explanation: For about 300 years Jupiter's banded atmosphere has shown a remarkable feature to telescopic viewers, a large swirling storm system known as The Great Red Spot. In 2006, another red storm system appeared, actually seen to form as smaller whitish oval-shaped storms merged and then developed the curious reddish hue. Now, Jupiter has a third red spot, again produced from a smaller whitish storm. All three are seen in this image made from data recorded on May 9 and 10 with the Hubble Space Telescope's Wide Field and Planetary Camera 2. The spots extend above the surrounding clouds and their red color may be due to deeper material dredged up by the storms and exposed to ultraviolet light, but the exact chemical process is still unknown. For scale, the Great Red Spot has almost twice the diameter of planet Earth, making both new spots less than one Earth-diameter across. The newest red spot is on the far left (west), along the same band of clouds as the Great Red Spot and is drifting toward it. If the motion continues, the new spot will encounter the much larger storm system in August. Jupiter's recent outbreak of red spots is likely related to large scale climate change as the gas giant planet is getting warmer near the equator.

The latest images could provide evidence that Jupiter is in the midst of a global change that can modify temperatures by as much as 10 degrees Fahrenheit on different parts of the globe.

The study was led jointly by Imke de Pater and Philip Marcus of University of California, Berkeley.

"The storm is growing in altitude," de Pater said. "Before when they were just ovals they didn't stick out above the clouds. Now they are rising."
This growth signals a temperature increase in that region, she said.

Point taken about the chili :)

I'll have to read up about Mars, but Jupiter is definitely a special case - it's practically a small star and generates a huge amount of it's own heat. Just as the sun has a solar cycle it's certainly not inconceivable that Jupiter would have it's own cycle that has nothing to do with either the sun, or global warming on the earth.

I think we should send Al Gore out on a voyage into space to see if we can get the whole solar system to pay our bankers a tax. We don't want our solar system dying on us!

the point is that earth has its own cycle - how do you think it shifted out of previous global warming global cooling periods not to mention previous ice ages before the industrial revolution.

as for Jupiter being practically a small star .... thats a new one to moi

    Excuse me?
I'm pretty sure Earth has stayed a balmy 23 degrees everyday since God finished up here. Don't even try and suggest that the earth has ever had different weather patters or temperatures. That's just ignant. Because everyone knows there wasn't CO2 before the industrial revolution ijat!

It's not a small star as there is no fusion occurring but it does generate it's own heat and I agree can't really be used as an example one way or the other.

EDIT: failed star would be more accurate

"By studying fluctuations in the warmth of the sun, Abdussamatov believes he can see a pattern that fits with the ups and downs in climate we see on Earth and Mars.

Abdussamatov's work, however, has not been well received by other climate scientists. "

Who bets he loses funding and his job?
You can't tax it if it's not because of something we breathe out. Well actually they are trying anyway, so my bad.
