It'll only be crushed because you and other muppets like you are all too accepting of the thieving mafia and their "rules of crime" which is sold off around here as bona fide law. Oneday if you ever grow a backbone and say enough is enough and actually VOTE these barstads out then perhaps we'll all get to be free individuals. Until then - enjoy your serfdom
This is how they will crush it http://forums.silverstackers.com/to...oin-could-be-accepted-by-paypal-and-ebay.html I think you misunderstand yip-pee, no one is supporting the State in this discussion, we are merely discussing the legalities of a tax system, if you want to question the morality of tax then good, I'll join in on your side, but that is a different discussion to whether tax is legal.
I disagree - in fact i believe the thread you refer to only goes to indicate how difficult it will be for the thieving regime to "crush" bit coins... In fact i believe (and hope) that the citizens will crush the regime long before the regime gets any sort of stranglehold on bit coins - which stands as an emblem of freedom against the tyranny of western welfare regimes
Bullshit! The Liberal Democratic Party clearly stands for a libertarian society where the role of government will be MINIMAL and the rights of individuals will again be held utmost. One important side effect of this would be that what you earn will remain your property as government would no longer need to steal from you to maintain a bloated welfare state. I'ts not rocket science ... it's just that there are none so blind as those who WILL NOT SEE!! If you convince yourself that voting for this party with such policies in not an option then YOU LOVE THE COMMIE WELFARE POLICE STATE that we've become ...
Not if you can buy iPhones or McDonalds with them, the day you can do that is the day that the State's long arm will have reached into another part of our lives and extracted their share. You people who believe that it is a good thing that Bitcoins will be able to be traded for consumer goods don't understand that the market for consumer goods is not independent, it is part of a regulated taxation system, introducing Bitcoins into that regulated taxation system will destroy the essence of why they were created in the first place. The only place for crypto-currencies is off the grid (personal transactions) or after the collapse of fiat currencies. To use them before is inviting the Bogey Man to intervene.
I hope you enjoyed your spray. However, if you are not clever enough to stay under the radar, and proclaim your wealth through public viewed assets, then you deserve to get nailed.
'Snot Right. After that I'm thinking that as annoying as it'll be to have the tax man involved, there is an upside in that all they can do is tax it but they can't debase it. As has been discussed many times in the past, the capital gains tax could be a bitch given that it's calculated on the nominal A$ value but I'm not sure how much they'd be able to confiscate under gains from currency exchange vs gains from an investment asset. I think they may well have scope to class Bitcoin as an investment asset in which case capital gains tax seems possible. It would be interesting to think about properly and possibly build a simple spreadsheet and calculate the taxation implications of holding currency depreciating at, say, 3% versus holding Bitcoin.
@will, re:Bitcoin acceptance is now a prerequisite for your support  @bordie, you make my head hurt sometimes. @yippe, where have you slunk off to?
yeh and i'm sure backstabbing scumbags would turn their own grandmother into the Gestapo... you're a symbol of why this country is so f.c.d!!
WOW.... if that's all you can come up with why you wouldn't vote for them then that's the BEST ENDORSEMENT for them i've come across in a long time!! Not voting for them (as in abstaining) is just as good as a vote for the Socialist scumbags currently in government.
Let's not forget some countries don't have CGT laws. NZ for one - I've moved back there for a financial year to avoid paying any CGT when I have a decent CG year. The CEO of a large investment firm has my back, and knows some really good tricks for those of us who live in both countries... ...and at the end of the day if the ATO comes after me, I'll just leave Australia and never return.
EZTV has just started accepting BTC donations so I made my first BTC donation ever yesterday (since EZTV is easily my favourite website). BTC adoption is increasing by the day.
Uh, like it or not we do have a preferential voting system, so I wouldn't hold that poll against them. Did you do the test? They're a bit more conservative than I am (but closest of anything on the table).
