Hello Stackers Planning on holiday end of year and wondered if anyone knows of where you could buy genuine bullion in Manila, specifically makati greenbelt? Interested to hear if anyone knows or has before
Don't know why you would want to buy and carry there I guess look for a fortress bristling with machine guns Staying at a hotel guarded by dudes with assault rifles was an eye opener
I'm going there this winter for a few weeks would like to.pick up a coin while I'm there. Maybe not though.
Yeah ok Leo... Are we talking from experience, and if so from which side kuya buying or taking?? What nationality are you? are you a white western person......
i go to manila a few times a year, not really the place for buying silver, never seen a coin shop . don't see the being a real market for it. Is your gf from manila? My gf is from cebu lapu lapu I think one of the best city's there.
my partner wants to take me one day, but she said she will only take me the the rich areas and some islands. She was saying its social class if very divided. So i guess if your going to be buying bullion you will be in one of the upper class malls, so getting mugged might not be so much of an issue
Same here, lived in Manila for 20yrs, and I can't honestly think I have ever seen a coin shop, saw an antique shop in mega mall selling coins at inflated prices but that's about it.
Cebu city is interesting...way different to Aus strange seeing the huge glossy malls like Ayala amidst the crazy miasma of the city itself there is one mall there with an ice skating rink in the middle of the lower floor, think it was SM, even had a Lush store there's some old history there too - Magellan's cross. Lapa lapu, mentioned before, sent old Magellan on his way to the pearly gates. If I were to visit the RP again, I'd go to more of the islands. Cebu is a good base. Manila must have been very special before it was bombed. Such a waste. The old churches are truly amazing. In my view, much better than Intramuros. From a stacker perspective, maybe some silver pesos would be good souvenirs. I recall that silver was not regarded highly a few years ago. I don't think the tropics treat it kindly.
they do a great buffet in cebu city too I remember shouting 8 people to lunch - crab, prawns, all kinds of dishes Excellent buffets are very cheap there too
