No past bartering even. I doubt even the youngest of us using this forum will see this in our lifetime. But its a transition away from materialistic obsession with possessions. It sounds a bit communist/socialist.. but its actually more of an ant farm. The whole idea is equality, and using superior technology to eliminate the need for work! ..the rough goal is one day a week work. the rest for family and play. No need to worry about jobs to earn money to buy things - 'things' are in abundance for all to use without the need for buying it. But MASSIVE focus on consciousness shift --- it will eliminate theft ie who will steal something when you dont need to sell it for cash? Also curb on population to make it all sustainable. at our current population levels, this could NEVER exist. Imagine 2 billion chinese getting everything they want, not to mention everyone in africa. We are overpopulated. Period. Thats why we have food shortages, famine, war and filthy water etc.

Anyway.. have a read of the venus project website - thevenusproject.org.

Pretty fanciful stuff and jolt us our of the status quo. I'm a stacker coz its the best way to beat the CURRENT system. When everything changes in the future, we won't need it.

    Peace!

PPSS .. in the meantime..im buildin' the pile...mmmmmm

    eliminate work or not?

Ok, I'll quit playing around because obviously I've seen this and Zeitgeist etc and you're right, it's just "marxism with robots" as a certain internet commentator puts it. Complete rubbish.

My question to the zeitgeister/venussy project people is this

How do you buy land when there is no money and no bartering?

eg. there is a great spot on the river available to build a house. 10 different people want it. How do you determine who gets it without money/barter?

ahh don't you hate it when that happens.. I had a massive reply to the last comment, but accidentally closed the tab I was working on GRRRR!

..I'm give you my response a little later. but that coin would still exist! so you could still flip it :p then toss it into the river, as it would have no 'buying power'. Do you buy air with your sillver coins in your stash? Nope. Why? Answer that and you have answered the whole shebang...Think about human motivations, greed, wanting to be BETTER than someone else...maybe?

Data showed WHY a CEO earning over $1 million dollars a year who lived MORE than comfortably wanted a payrise.. it was all about what the OTHER CEO's were getting. It had nothing to do with his/her needs.

When we look at what we want the human race to be in the future, I think of the words, peace, sustainability, health, quality of life, compassion and EQUALITY. It's the how, that's the hard part. Where do you start, who do you turn to, who do you trust to begin to implement any of it. Scared of it all going Stalin-Style or not keen on a communist regime? Not many people are considering the track record of countries labelled 'Communist" or "Socialist". But there has to be a way for each to be able to develop to their full potential without financial impediments which do nothing but hold civilisations back.

One quick example - if ALL the space agencies of the world united and has UNLIMITED resources, I'd say we'd have done more than send probes out and land a man on the moon and take pretty photos with the Hubble telescope....

TEAMWORK! ..anyway.. the water front land thing will be addressed later..but think for yourself in terms of the words abundance and sustainable populations. If there were 50 people on bondi beach looking to put an umbrella in the sand and sit under it, do you think two people would fight over the 2 square metres one person arbitrarily chose? Or even offer them something of theirs for it? Consider how spaced apart 50 people would be on Bondi Beach.. just an analogy..but use it to expand the process to anything you can come up with.
