Speculation about whether this is a joke has started but I suspect it is the real deal. Scheduled for Jan 2018 and with the same premise as Bitcoin Gold - To make the PoW algorithm Equihash and prevent centralisation of Bitcoin Cash.

I suspect we may be hearing a lot more about this soon. Especially if Bitcoin Cash makes more inroads into BTC market dominance.

The website says it's a fork of Bitcoin, not Bitcoin Cash. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with bitcoin cash people. I should say it's taking Bitcoins main chain to build off.

I think that's a mistake, but we will see how this one plays out. I was of the impression it was taking the big blocks of Bitcoin Cash and just adopting the Equihash PoW. Early days and the site is still under construction. Maybe they're hedging their bets and will confirm which Bitcoin at a later date.

    Probably!

Though if you asked me the top 2 things I'd like to change about BTC I would say 1. Bigger Blocks and 2. Decentralised mining.

So it would not at all surprise me if this got traction.

I've been a bit out of the loop lately, but didn't Bitcoin Gold switch to GPU and plan to increase block sizes when needed? If so, then what does Bitcoin Cash Plus offer that's new?
