So who picked up the Coloured Berlin Dragon or the Red Welsh Dragon today? Looks like Perth Mint has another dragon in its next release : 2012 Year of the Dragon 1oz Silver Proof High Relief Coin
Got 3 of the black dragons because i'm stooopid and because I want to train 'em. Looking forward to high relief dragon as long as it is part of the lunar series and not some new series ala baby dragon
Yep, pic is under embargo. Looks like the same dimensions as the Kangaroo high relief. Yeah - shame it wasn't introduced with the start of Series II.
I got a couple of Welsh dragons and a couple of the Opal Koalas - both look really nice to me plus the first coins in the series. Gave the Berlin dragon a miss - same coin as in the 9 coin set so nothing new, just a different box - think they could/should have done something better, maybe a carded version or a special coin. But will grab a couple of the high relief dragons when they released.
I ordered one of each of the Opal Koala and berlin dragon I look at it as the berlin dragon is an individually packaged 1oz coloured coin with 5000 mintage for someone in the future collecting the coloured set of 2012 dragons the others have a mintage of double that but not sure how it will work out hopefully pay big one day
I reckon this new 5 coin Dragon series, starting with the Welsh Dragon, will be pumped out too quick for them to gain much value. A new dragon in the series every 3 months does not allow enough time for demand to pick up over such a short space of time.
I wonder if the space them out a bit, will the dragon mania continue through the year of the snake? :|
^^^ Unlikely to carry on into next year so I guess the Mint, Coin Club etc will try to cash in now.....and who cares what they are worth in 12 months time? The Perth Mint and the coin dealers can only sell them once!
I still have the panda's no one wanted them at that price another member sold like 30 for the same price but they are known to the panda collectors so that doesn't surprise me oh well I don't really need the fiat so I'm kinda relieved now I can throw them in the safe and pull em out in 20 years and sell em then
