I see Perth Mint has around 70 of these in stock.

I was pretty sure I had seen them being "SOLD OUT" before so not sure if this is a glitch or if they really do have them in stock.

    I just ordered 2 anyways.

You know I like to give heads up where I can - 1oz Silver Proof Ox, go online and secure yours while you can :)

type in 9999, click add to cart.. it won;t let you add more than they have remaining in stock..
similar for APMEX.. type in 9999 ... it'll tell you how many they have in stock..

    hope that helps..

That sucks majorly. The PM is obviously reminting old lunar proof coins where the maximal mintage hasn't been reached yet.

I think the only 2 that haven't been fully minted are the ox and mouse

They only reminted about 80 of the ox which has a mintage so far of about 2100 of the 5000

IMO buy as many of these as you can if you can afford to hold onto them for a bit once people start trying to complete a proof 1oz set and realise they need the Ox they will pay premiums similar to the Dragon and Tiger as there is significantly less of them.

With 2800 or so more to mint and with just over 7 years left to do so i dont see the rush. The mint will probably still be selling these in another 3 years.

They could be I think the only reason they are minting these now is because the dragons sold out

They will only mint the older lunar proofs if the current year is sold out or they get a substantial order and I pesonally don't think that the future lunar years will be any where near as crazy as this year which will mean that this year may the last chance to get some at issue price.

Just what I think but am probably wrong

It will definitely bring the prices down for the next few years until they are all sold and therefore people will lose interest.

You may be right. I think the snakes will be huge though. Definately getting a roll of 1oz along with proofs and sets. Hell looks like im getting the whole lot.LOL

On the Ox's again, i'd only buy if someone wants to sell me the others for a fair price. I'm mainly into the rabbits dragons and the snake horse and dog when released. Will always consider the others if i have the extra cash. I'm supposed to be buying another house not buying Gold and Silver. Whoops

I'm always looking for rabbits in Perth.

One thing is for sure, there are not 5000 people out there who collect all lunar proof coins. With 5000 coins on the market, the only way to get higher prices is when some people create artificial shortage by stacking lots of them.
If there is steady supply at issue price and prices are more or less guaranteed to stay low for a long time, most people wouldn't collect these coins.

I'm not sure that there isn't 5000 all the dragons sold in days and all the tigers have sold out plus if there isn't 5000 now how do we know there won't be 5000 collectors by the end of the series personally I dont see too much downside should at least be able to recover your money

Issue price back then was $83. That's a $24 price increase

Sorry I meant the 2012 1oz dragon standard proof... Free delivery as well with purchases over 75 dollars, so not a bad deal IMO :)
