Hi I am new to this collecting and to using this forum. I was hoping someone could help me out with a coin I have acquired. It is a 1955 penny with a . after the Y in penny. It looks very "shiny". I cant seem to upload an image but ill keep trying. Are the 1955 pennys of any value
What specifically do you want to know about the coin? If you put a photo up we can all offer suggestions about the grade. Value is massively dependant on its grade. Welcome to the forum.
Thank you for your replies. I'm still trying to work out how to upload photos. I keep getting a message requesting that I get permission from mod. I'll work it out soon. I am aware of the significance of the dot because I do google. But it's the grading that I'm still getting my head around. I have been collecting AUD $1 coins for a while but they seem much more straightforward. These pennies seem to have so many more variable to look at. But that is why I enjoy it. Will get back to u with a pic soon ( I hope).
Thank you Ag-man. I just read through membership info and saw the restriction period. I'll post pic after I am upgraded to member status.
That looks in pretty good condition from the photo and doesn't appear to be cleaned. I am going out on a limb here but I think you may have a proof. So certainly get a few opinions locally or try to get a closer shot. But it looks like you have scored nicely if it is a 1955. Photo of the reverse would be good also (other side) Prices have changed a lot but it could be a significant coin. DO NOT OPEN THE BAG AND TOUCH IT !!!!
I have some proof 1955Y. pennies, bit it's too hard to tell from that image, some close ups would be good..
As I said out on a limb lol, just looking at the detail in the hair it looked pretty detailed. Agree with all though need a bit closer pic to tell. It still looks like a nice coin either way.
