I recently bought my wife a 14k white gold ring in the USA. As she has fingers the thickness of knitting needles it was made smaller. when we got back I noticed the 14k stamp was gone as this was in the middle of the inner surface of the ring and had been cut out when they resized it. I took it to the PM to confirm in their XRF that it was 14k - which was confirmed. How do I get it re-stamped. I have a certificate from the manufacturer. It is not a very expensive ring but would be nice to have a 14k stamp?
The jeweller is in the US and I am back in Aus - will any jeweller do it based on the certificate or will they want an assay ?
Just for your info whent to 3 good jewellers and none had a 14k stamp. 9,18,22,24 k no worries -14k none in sight !
This is likely as 14k is an American trend in gold purity for jewellery. Australian Jewellers don't tend to make 14k as a general rule, but an assayer may be able to stamp it - quick google search should help you. That or stamp it yourself as SS suggested
Hi thanks for all the help. Picked up a stamp from freebay for $7.25 including postage from an Australian site. I will let you know how it goes. Cheers
