Good morning all, if you could only afford one of the 3 items in the title, and the price of the coin was only an extra 10 bucks, which would it be? This is to help me decide which to grab. Thanks in advance team!
The coin for me because a 10oz 2000 Dragon is worth $700 yet a 10oz PM bar from 2000 is still worth $350 or so.
Dragon for sure. Gainesville had them listed yesterday as silver was diving for like $350-something. Before I could make up my mind they were out of stock again. FML.
The coin. Harping back to my earlier post regarding premiums, the opportunity cost on more ounces is worth taking a very slight hit if you can acquire governmentally guaranteed coinage. A 10oz Lunar coin comes with a government guarantee, the bars do not. At a cost of only $1 per ounce to secure this, I feel it's a no brainer. That's before we even discuss collectable premiums down the line.
Just to play devils advocate, depends on how many you're stacking Coins are bulky. But I would go for the coin right now if you were making <100oz purchases. Premium opportunity on Dragons shouldn't be ignored. Funnily enough, the hottest items I'm seeing sell are 10oz bars of both sorts. Many people still chase as many ounces as they can, particularly in bulk buys.
FTW? Forgot To Wipe this morning? FML? Forgot My Lunch? Can we have a sticky for the old people on this forum to translate what the kids are saying? I never thought I would be one of the "old crew" at 36!
Apparently Kenny has moved to Florida... (joke for the guys that have been around a while - for others, see "Kenny" button above post text box)
As a newbie who just sold some silver and gold on ebay before the crash and at the moment, no one seems interested in bars, i can sell 1oz koalas and kookaburra coins 20-30% dearer than the equivilent price to 10 ounce bars. ie. I sold 8-10 coins in 1-2 days, i am lucky to get a couple of people to look at the bars sale page, i am in no rush to sell them so they are not cheap, but i would be taking a loss after ebay fees, but could by it back and make $20 on 2 bars. I could sell 1 ounce for 48$ = 8 delivery pretty much instantly but no one looks at the bars around 420 at all. That is about 380 after fees and while silver was a bit higher also. I also just sold a couple coins to a lady for her twin grand daughters as cheap as perth mint, she would not want bars . Will still buy some bars though, but it was going to be alot more before i noticed this. I got 10 kookaburras at 34$ (a roll averaged for $38 eventually), picked the last dip well, so thought i would sell the others i had at what i got them for. -And for the old guy , sometimes typing FTW etc. into google will show you what it is.
I'd say a bar and then 1 one ounce coin with the difference. 1 ounce of silver will be worth more than the premium you'll get on the dragon in my opinion.
Lot of people go for bars because more ounces, but I yet to see a private individual or a dealer who made more money selling bars than coins on the same quantity. Actually bar sellers never even get close with profit made, but they have more ounces so they are happy.
