What do you guys think of this size coin? Hard to liquidate for a fair price later down the road? Can't figure out if i'm trying to talk myself into buying or out of buying one  Premium seems pretty steep also.
If the premium was more inline with the kilo, I don't think it would be an issue to get it back out (or atleast a respectable amout of it). I think Perth is at an $8/oz premium, Apmex is around $13/oz
NO But that would be a one off so , I say it would be worth 888 X spot Just drill a small hole in the centre of the 10kg & superglue the little gold coin inside it  You might want to have a jewellers loop handy to view to tiny bit of gold Just watch PM will now come up with something NUTS like that
It's relatively illiquid in that: a) You have to find someone willing to spend say $20,000 on 1 coin; b) A bullion house/dealer would only give you bullion price, about $11,000 for its metal value; c) If you needed for some reason down the track say $5,000 for something, you have to sell your 10kg coin for about $20,000 (hopefully) and then have $15,000 cash you dont need. If you buy 15x1kg coins instead of the 10kg, you could sell just 5 of the 1kgs off to make the $5,000 in cash you need and keep the remaining 10x1kg coins. Point is, the 10kg is not divisible !
Seeing as you already have a gold dragon of that size, then I would *definitely* buy a 10 kg silver one. Even though I can't afford to get a gold dragon like that one, I've contemplated the idea of getting a 10 kg, but forsaken it due to the sizing. I'm restricting myself to 1 oz & 2 oz coins. Yes, the premium is high, and at this time, its not so easy to liquidate. But I believe that the time will come, where you won't have a problem finding a wealthy (probably asian) buyer for a 10 kg, and you'll get your premium back & much more. Go for it mate. Get in now!! Not sure how many more 10 kg coins remain to be made, as there is a limit of 500.
Only about 280 of the 10kg coins are being made, despite the advertised limit. They are very resource intensive to make, and basically the mint has redirected efforts elsewhere. Didn't get an allocation request in for one - we could have sold three or four to date just based on unsolicited requests. If anyone ever does want to sell, we've got buyers. No problems with liquidity for this coin, even with premium.
They can still mint these for the next 7 years though, correct? Or is that the kilo's i'm thinking of. Do you think the Apmex price of $14.5k is a decent price? It's quite a bit higher than PM, but can't get them there right now if they've stopped making them. You've done a nice job of talking me into one...
Found a couple for $13,700. Just can't bring myself to pull the trigger on it yet. Guess I'm waiting for spot to go lower. http://www.gainesvillecoins.com/pro...ilver-perth-mint-year-of-the-dragon-coin.aspx
