Hi there everyone I’ve held onto these coins for years and think it’s come time to sell them but I’m not sure what would be considered a fair asking price for them? If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. 1 oz silver kookaburras 1992,93,94,95,96,98,05,06, and 2007.
It depends a lot on the condition, packaging. and whether they are proofs or specimen issues @chikosh A photo of the coins in question would greatly facilitate a more accurate reply. As a quick guesstimate I would say from low 40s if they have a bit of tone up to about 50s if in perfect condition for specimens, you may get more selling them elsewhere.
I’m not sure if they’re proof or not but they’re all in cases and in excellent condition. For some reason it won’t let me upload a photo on here saying the files too big.
You need to download an app that minimizes the photos before you can upload on here. I use "Fileminimizer Pictures" by belesio, easy to download and use. Both proof and specimen issued came cased, the proofs have highly polished fields contrasting with the frosted matte finish of the kookaburra and queen portraits.
They are bullion coins in excellent condition and the best way to get full value would be to do an auction. Just my opinion and that's what I would do, good luck with your sale.
Set a reserve if you wish, if it's too high no one will bid and you have nothing to lose. Concentrate on a fair reserve + post. Don't do yourself out of the postage.
It isn't up to me to say, but I would personally start at the low $40's somewhere. Somewhere where you can say ok, I can walk away with that if someone bids at reserve but in my humble opinion I think it will bid upwards towards $50...... The market is still a bit hot, the choice is yours, it's your sale and start price.
Thank you I think I’ll do that then. So I have to state what my reserve price is for everyone to see?
No, you can do whatever way you like. You can, for example say "I will state when the reserve has been met" and then it is on the market. But in most cases here a reserve is set to avoid any confusion. People hate bidding and winning auctions only to be told later that the reserve had not been met, it just wastes everybody's time. You can just ask for private message offers too without an auction. It's your sale so you set the rules and you can do it as you like, you are the boss.
Appreciate all the advice, I’ve always bought over the years and it’s been atleast 8 years since I’ve bought or sold any silver.
Yeah I checked your feedback, 10 years a member already, well done. They are nice coins and you won't have any trouble selling them.
