Liberal turncoat Julia Banks faced own claim of bullying

    https://www.theaustralian.com.au/na...g/news-story/8b9edbc1927bddf2a10af3ca0df8b83e

A young female executive assistant working for pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline was paid compensation after making a bullying complaint against former Liberal MP now independent candidate Julia Banks.

Ms Banks, who defected from the Liberal Party claiming she had been bullied and that the Coalition was anti-woman, last night did not deny a settlement was paid in the GSK case.

In 2010, when Ms Banks was a corporate lawyer in Melbourne for GSK, a complaint was made that she was bullying an executive assistant at the company.

The complaint was investigated and GSK paid compensation to the female assistant with an agreed confidentiality agreement.

The executive assistant left her job when the complaint was investigated after working at GSK for 13 years. Ms Banks, who joined GSK in 2009, continued to work for the company until 2014, two years before she entered parliament.

Last night, Ms Banks did not deny the bullying complaint, the compensation or the confidentiality agreement when asked by The Australian.

She said: “Confidential employment matters of GSK should be referred to GSK.”

When approached earlier by The Australian, GSK declined to comment and said the company did not discuss private details of employees.

Ms Banks was the only Liberal candidate to win a Labor-held seat at the 2016 election, claiming the Melbourne seat of Chisholm.

Her resignation from the Liberal Party to join the independent crossbenchers in the House of Representatives after the removal of Malcolm Turnbull as prime minister and her criticism of Scott Morrison created chaos for the Coalition.

She caused an uproar when she said she would not recontest the seat because of “cultural and gender bias, bullying and intimidation” of women in politics.

She described bullying and intimidation as a “scourge” in politics, the media and business, and said she would continue to fight for gender equality because women had been “silent for too long”.

Ms Banks refused to name the Coalition MPs she said were bullying her as Labor used her claims to accuse the Prime Minister and the Coalition of failing women. She said people knew she would “always call out bad behaviour and will not tolerate any form of bullying and intimidation”.

In a television interview, Ms Banks said the Liberal Party was decades behind the business world in relation to women. “I thought the Liberal Party would be a slick corporate machine, but it wasn’t that at all … in relation to women, it was decades behind the business world,” she said.

After becoming an independent, Ms Banks decided to contest the seat of Flinders, held by Health Minister Greg Hunt, who supported Peter Dutton in the first leadership spill against Mr Turnbull.

Ms Banks attended a Flinders candidates’ forum last night. The Australian revealed last September that a leaked Liberal Party report contained allegations that Ms Banks mistreated campaign workers. She strongly denied the claims, which were included in an official post-election campaign report into her successful 2016 campaign for the seat of Chisholm.

The Liberal Party was told in the report: “The campaign went through a number of staff and volunteers. I believe it important to put on record the way staff and volunteers were treated as I have never seen anything like this before. It was almost like the candidate (Ms Banks) thought there was a platoon of volunteers sitting at home ready to jump at a moment’s notice. The expectations were completely divorced from reality.’’

The Australian is not suggesting the allegations made against Ms Banks are accurate, only that they have been made.

Celebrating 40 years of Life of Brian real life satire, often unintentional.

If anyone has seen "Four Kings", these two would fit right in to the premise.

Or as my father used to say: "when I nod my head you hit it eh?"

There were fireworks inside Sydney's Land and Environment Court as two men who took part in illegal land clearing began shouting and heckling before they were fined $100,000.

Brothers Mustapha and Diaa Kara-Ali illegally cleared land and developed on a bush block in Sydney's north west, claiming the Islamic spiritual group they ran on the property was exempt from Australian law.

The pair were asked to leave the courtroom by their lawyer at one stage and came back after they had calmed down.

Hawkesbury City Council took the brothers to the Land and Environment Court in June last year.

From the beginning, the duo refused to take part in court proceedings and ignored orders by the court to stop construction works on the land.

Today they were convicted of 12 counts of contempt of court.

The Kara-Alis argued they were exempt from Australian law because their spiritual group, Diwan al Dawla, was classed as a basic religious charity.

That claim was not endorsed by the Australia Charities and Not-for-profits Commission, who later stripped the group of its charity status.

The brothers were also accused of locking in a man delivering them court documents by padlocking the gates on the Colo property while he was still inside.

In sentencing the two men today, Justice Terence Sheahan said the brothers only engaged in the court process "following my reluctant decision to have you arrested … to address the problems you've created", describing their contempt of the court as "flagrant".

In his published reasons, Justice Sheahan said the brothers' claim they do not have to comply with Australian law is false.

"In December 2017, the Australian National Imams Council ('ANIC'), with the assistance of the NSW Judicial Commission, prepared a document entitled 'Explanatory Note on the Judicial Process and Participation of Muslims'," he wrote.

"The note clearly envisages that Muslims in Australia will often be expected to participate in court processes.

"It even stresses that there are many similarities between the Western tradition and the Muslim concept of justice."

But Justice Sheahan pointed out Mustapha Kara-Ali "disowns" that note, quoting him telling the court "that document belongs in the trash bin".

The judge also ordered the pair would be fined $2,000 for every month after June this year they failed to remediate the Colo property.

The pair were eligible to appeal or have their fines adjusted.

Outside court, Mustapha Kara-Ali repeated previous claims of religious persecution and said, "our religion is prime".

Are there any "institutions" that lefties haven't infiltrated? I doubt it. What's next, a trans in a swimsuit/bikini? This gal is pretty but the idea is they are in a swimsuit.

Remember when the left used to say how these coverings were oppressive to women from these nations? Now that the left doesn't want to criticize them anymore, they celebrate the oppression (what goes on in the homeland, not here) and try to make it "stylish".

Zerohedge is fun to read and has some valid articles on China, but at the end of the day is basically Russian propaganda.

Russia currently has 11 time zones, from the Kaliningrad Oblast, a Baltic enclave in the west, to the Kamchatka Krai in the Far East. When the easternmost regions move to the Magadan time zone, their time difference with Kaliningrad will be reduced to nine hours.Mar 23, 2010

its a fact of life, just live with it, as long as the world is rotating on the axis you need to say it 11 times !!!

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-05...-uk-citizen-sex-offender-lost-appeal/11064714

A convicted sex offender is set to remain in Australia after winning an appeal in the Federal Court against Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton's order to deport him.

    Key points:
    • David Degning was released from Villawood Detention Centre yesterday after spending 16 months in custody
    • The 57-year-old grandfather was convicted of a sex offence in 2013, but the Government's move to deport him was yesterday overturned
    • Two of the three Federal Court judges involved in the appeal found Mr Dutton had unfairly cancelled the visa

British citizen David Degning, 57, who has lived in Australia for more than 50 years, was yesterday released from Sydney's Villawood Immigration Detention Centre and reunited with his family on the NSW south coast after spending 16 months in detention.

The grandfather, who has voting rights and Australian children, has been fighting the deportation order since 2016 when the Department of Home Affairs moved to revoke his visa and return him to the United Kingdom for failing a character test.

Mr Degning has a long criminal history and was convicted in 2013 of having sexual intercourse with a person with a cognitive impairment. He was given a 17-month suspended sentence.

The list of offences also includes various drug, drink-driving and assault charges.

In August last year, the Federal Court dismissed Mr Degning's appeal to remain in Australia, but that decision was overturned by the full Federal Court on Tuesday on the grounds of procedural fairness.

Two of the three Federal Court judges found Mr Dutton had unfairly cancelled the visa.

The Department of Home Affairs is reviewing the court's decision.

In a statement it said: "The Australian Government is committed to protecting the Australian community from the risk of harm posed by non-citizens who engage in criminal conduct or behaviour of concern."

Mr Degning's lawyer Stephen Blanks said his client was "ecstatic and dazed" to be reunited with his family at home on the NSW far south coast.

Mr Blanks said Mr Degning was considering claiming compensation, which he said could run into a "substantial figure".

It the last part of that article that should get Amercian's mad too.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    As Breitbart News has noted:

In 2007-8, CAIR was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the terror financing trial of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development. That case, in turn, led the FBI to discontinue its work with the organization. In 2009, a federal judge ruled that the government “produced ample evidence to establish” the ties of CAIR with Hamas, the Palestinian terror organization . The United Arab Emirates labeled CAIR a terrorist organization in 2014 (a decision that the Obama administration opposed).

Oddjob: and the last underlined line about supports why the US Govt did not follow the lead of the US Federal Court.

The CAIR-Pennsylvania statement did not condemn the MAS Philly video. Instead, it used the opportunity to criticize Israel: “We should be careful, however, not to conflate criticism of Israeli policy towards the Palestinians with anti-Semitism.”

It is so easy to see. Right now, the elites are using religion of peace followers as pawns. In the past they have used gays, Jews, blacks, and others. But right now the peace followers are kings. They will be preferred over all other useful idiot groups formerly utilized by the leftists.

Kind of ironic seeing lefties kick jewish folks to the curb, considering how many of them (jewish folks) supported leftists all of these years, sometimes even spearheading the causes. The leftists seem to be the least honorable and least loyal folks on the planet.

And many of these groups are waking up as evidenced by WalkAway, Blexit and The Exodus Movements.

What would the reaction have been if a Republican did this?

    http://www.theamericanmirror.com/co...h-black-man-holds-up-fried-chicken-leg-in-sc/

Or said this? This gal basically said they banned abortions in Alabama so that there would be more black men going to prison. Meaning, black babies that aren't aborted will grow into felons as adults.

This gal likes to go nude to protest stuff. She probably should stick to that and let AOC make intelligent political comments.
