Hoping someone wants to sell their Pride of Australia series while the spot price is high. Looking for coin, box and COA. Would prefer to buy the entire series as one lot or I'll try buying them one at a time.
Hi Silverman 99, Thank you for replying. I think I would be a bit nervous to ship these from NZ to Australia. Ever had any problems doing this?
I would have no reservations about Silverman99 as I have met him personally a number of times. However.... The GST quandry is there. Will customs hit you for GST? These are GSTable items. A business (like I used to run) can't lose by buying them from NZ as they can claim legitimately claim the GST back. Ck.
Hi Captain, I have spoken to Silverman99 and we will potentially meet in Australia. But you raise an interesting point that I have been trying to get my head around. I mainly own coins that would attract GST. I have never sold a coin. When I do go to sell I wont be charging GST because I'm not a business. So my question is just about price and here it is: Has the GST issue affected to value of these coins. They cost value +GST so have values simply dropped to absorb the additional GST cost. meaning one of these coins could actually yield less than spot?
These coins and Sovs was what got me into Gold. The treatment as GST liable (esp in UNC form) is a joke. However it is what it is. I believe that they would be a hugely liquid form of gold holdings if it wasn't for the GST millstone. You only need to look back to the early 80s to see how they were traded. Late 80s you started to see competition form Perth Mints pure 1oz gold coin, and after the GST started, it went to shit. You are correct when you are looking at effective yield. It is often less than spot.
Great f2f with Silverman99 (*****) recently and I now have the whole collection of proofs except for the frilled neck lizard. Anyone wanting to part with a frilled neck lizard?
