just a quick post, had to brag to somebody ! haha finally hit my target of 200 oz of silver, has taken me nearly a year. 3.5 oz of gold too. is that a good amount what does everybody think? your all going to tell me you have 1000 ounces arent you and call me small time ! Ideally i want to start accumulating a core position of 100 oz silver, and an ounce or two of gold, but been pushing myself to do this so we'll see how we go. anyways
I started just with silver, and eventually decided i needed gold as well, just for deflation reasons. i can always swap that for silver later, but i think i'll be adding more to my gold position now over the next few months
haha.. this is so awesome! You know, I can feel your excitement through your posts! Reading your excited posts could bring anyone into instant elation feeling your joy about your great accomplishment. I have to do a stocktake again soon to double check my spreadsheet matches what I have! I recently swapped some ag for au. Poured bars..mmmmm haha It's good to have a bit of variation. Anyway ..off to bed for me. Enjoy your accomplishment. It is so great to feel your excitement!! ppss
I'm going to give you a pragmatic point of view, Silverman. Even if you think (as per the later comments in your post) that 200oz may not be considered "large", I can tell you it is. The reason is simple - if you took a poll of the general population, I think you'll find you're 200oz better off than 99% of the population. When (and not if) the SHTF, that 200oz will make you a King. Congratulations on hitting your goal
Awesome job! I am still trying to figure out what my goal is. I got overextended recently and unloaded quite a few ounces, so I'm now at 241 oz. Silver, 1.5 oz. Gold and 2.25 oz. Platinum. I think I need to focus more on gold for a while. But I need to pay the bills first! Keep on stacking! Maybe shoot for 100:1 silver:gold?
Yeah i know, ive been trying to get to 200oz for so long now it doesnt seem like a hell of a lot any more, but in reality its a pretty big chunk of silver ! i'll be adding to my gold position whenever i can from now on.
i'd be buying more gold if i were you, get 10 gram bars for $300 each or something at the moment, or even 5 gram bars, one every few weeks. I started buying 1 oz coins, but then i realised if the price does go bonkers, there is that rule that says they must report your details if you purchase/sell over $5000 of bullion. So now im buying nothing over 1/2 ounce, i might even swap the ounce coins i have for a few 1/2 or 1/4 ounce coins. I think its important to keep under that $5000 limit. If it were me i'd be getting rid of an ounce of platinum and swapping for gold, its 30 times rarer so you can probably have less of it, gold will be the immediate beneficiary of whats coming in the next 12 months, silver will lag a bit i think. I mean platinum will go up too, but people dont understand platinum, everybody knows gold.
Well done chap! Keep it up! That's a fantastic start over 12 months but assume you were buying at $42 as well as $28? Best, VRS x
Platinum was inherited from my grandpa in the form of Swiss proofs so I'm not too worried about it. The spread between silver and gold right now doesn't seem favorable for swapping, so I will be sitting tight on silver and adding gold when possible. I agree with your post above about 200 oz. not seeming like all that much any more. It's like you hit a milestone and it feels good for a little bit and then it's on to the next. I haven't really figured out if there is a stopping point or not. I suppose future factors will have to weigh in on that (marriage, home, children, retirement, etc.).
