    Dogmatix already suggested "sponge". But you did say we needed to be "very specific". Sponge can also refer to sponges that live in the sea. But in this case, we're talking about the man-made ones; ie: "house-hold sponge". This looks real similar.

    Black sun your pic shows the cells have mostly open ends Austackers cells have mostly closed ends your sponge is for absorbancy austackers is a packing foam of some description designed to absorb impact with the air cells imo....oops now ive given the game away showing that i was paying attention... :rolleyes:

    I tried to post earlier but it didn't work, it's coin / silver related and it's plastic so my last gues would be the plastic surround that the Chinese pandas come in.... Am I closer this time??

    The grey foam used for padding. Can buy it from Clark rubber. Can also be found in some capsules.
