about 19k all up, its a gamble but silver is going no where and I dont like just buying the coins as that is too much risk for me. At least this way I hold a physical asset, if the price collapses I will at least be able to flog off the hardware and get some of my money back.
GPU based I want to mine now not in 6+ months time IF they deliver on time and that is a big IF. I will buy into the 2nd generation of ASIC miners if Alpha-t can even deliver on their promises in this generation. By the time they( the first gen of ASIC miners ) start comming on-line these miners should have paid them selves off and then some ( if current prices hold )
interesting thanks. the first gen flower technology is already delivering and online, big savings in heat and power to be had with these devices over gpu already.
hrmmm had not heard of flower technology, just googled them and they seem even furthur behind releasing anything than alpha-t no specs no plans released but they have a shipping date at least alpha -t they have a price and you can pre order them https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=7930.0 Where have people gotten these, delivered, and in use allready? like I said If these things get shipped ( and I dont counr FCPGA here as you can get dev boards atm but are not user friendly or that cheap. ) on time we are still looking at 5-6 months. and I have my doubts.
here is the thread https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=13314.0 theres also an australian group buy going on in the bitcointalk group buy section https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=436031.0 i will probably pick up a couple for testing. the fibonacci also looks good
Wow and please explain - what configuration do you need to do just that? Like: CPU, RAM, Video card...? And how many hours of running?
Yes I have looked into similar things but all of those are crap and not worth the money. They cost more than a GPU per KH/s and while they use less power it is not that much less. and I can t sell them if the price drops as easily as a GPU either. e.g. R9 290x = 980 kh/s for $629 @ 300w those miners ( and this was what I was referring to when I said FCPGA I dont count) 3 x of them = 900kh/s for 1.275 BTC ( $1150 AUD at time of writing) @ 180w at the current cost of electricirty it would take 600 days to make up the price difference in the electricity savings vs the above GPU. completely not worth the money at the moment. I will wait for alpha-t miners if they get delivered. They look promising everything else is just FUD.
New PC at work with a low end graphics card (not the type built in to the motherboard) leave it mining overnight and weekends when I'm not using it PITA to set up though - proxy settings, corporate firewall, virus scanner deleting cgminer.exe
I only got about an office machine with a good 2.8 Ghz Pentium CPU, 4 GB RAM, but a basic "on board video" unit (which is the weakest point of my office PC). I reckon, it's too weak. Not sure if I can compensate the weak graphics part with the CPU or RAM... I'm learning about mining...
