This has been going on since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. It will continue, since workers have gradually priced themselves out of the labour market. My wife's ancestor was a (threshing machine), 'Machine Breaker', in Hampshire in 1830 who got 7 years in Tasmania for his trouble.

No sick leave. no holidays, no super contributions, no strikes for "better pay and conditions". Soon you are an unemployed GMH worker!

Seven billion people on this planet and rapidly heading for 8 billion, then 9+ billion, and the jobs are disappearing all over it.

I am glad I will be dead in less than 10 years.

My job? Yes. What will I do? Adapt, find something new to do, sell robots, or create fancy t-shirts for companies to put in their exit packages..... Such as "I got f'd out of my job by a robot and all I got was this t-shirt" and on the back ".....and a minimum redundancy"

I am currently within 6 weeks of my 75th birthday, and if I live out that next decade i will surpass all but 2 of my entire male line of the past 200 years.

I am presently fit and healthy, and if "only the good die young", I will set a new record.

Anyway, I really am not too sure i want to see the next couple of decades, it will NOT be pretty.

If our bodies remaind at that of an 18 year old I'd never want to die, but as I age I can see the need for death

if the rich can make a profit from it, whats to stop them.

I distinctly remember way back when computers hecame big,
    someone on tv being asked
    won't they cause unemployment?
    he answered
No,they will reduce working hours to 20 a week.

This could easily describe China & why all the manufacturing jobs are heading over there. But now they won't need china

When I was a kid I watched a show called "Towards 2000" (it later became beyond 2000)
they said that by the year 2000 computers and robots would've advanced so much that our only worries would be where to take our long holidays.
