Sorry to read about your difficulties.
Maybe with the strain off you ,things will become better eventually.

Oh shit ye sorry i meant 10mm....How silly of me!

Got phone call from centrelink this morning.

They have receieved all of my forms and medical certificates and are presently processing it all.

They said i will get another call soon to organise there own phsycologist appointment for me.

That will be the real test?

That's interesting, I didn't realize Centrelink have their own medical team to validate the findings of other medical practitioners.

Let me know the result and what they actually do, and whether they are actual qualified doctors.

In the country at least, they are registered GPs with a practice, but you have to go there and get the 'ok' despite what your own doctor might have said.
De-facto brother-in-law has a heart condition (at least 4 heart attacks so far) and struggles to walk down the street. Amazingly can't get sickness benefit because of Centrelink doctors - deem him capable of 'some' kind of work, but I certainly would never employ someone in his condition.

Even if I do actually pass the test and get the DSP I think i will still be looking for work at least something casual.

I'm finding it VERY hard to find a new job at the moment.

I am also getting very bored being stuck at home with no money all the time.

This would appear to be a large part of your future unless you find an alternative way of earning money to the 9-5 wage position. I'd be looking at ways of earning money at home via web or eBay etc.

The dude? Is on a silver forum, so that would appear to be a way to make coin.
I do it for fun and make ok money, if they were to treat it like a job and do it 40 hours a week i am sure they will make good returns.
That is my plan once the youngest starts pre-school later in the year.
Ill be turtled if i go back to working in pharmaceuticals.

My latest plan is to sell my motorbike and use some of the money to pay for a truck license (medium rigid).

    That will cost about $800.

Its the only other job/industry I believe I can get into.

Its really looking like my mechanics days are over which is fine because i was never really very good at it anyways.

Why the phsycologist. Isn't a back problem typically diagnosed by a medial doctor who is a spine specialist?

My main problems are mental illness.....The back problem is just something else thats wrong with me.

Whatever new job i do find it has to be something thats easy on my back.

So no heavy lifting or overly physically straining on my body.

Don't want to alarm you, but I wouldn't want to get into mental health 'care' in Australia.

My neighbor went down that path and the doctors ended up forcing him into electroshock therapy. He's basically been a walking zombie ever since. He didn't even recognize his wife after treatment. It's been banned in most parts of the world, and even in Western Australia. But somehow it thrives in NSW and other states.

There's also a raft of legislation that mean people with mental health issues loose any remaining rights they might have.

Did the doctors say if it could be helped by building some muscle through careful exercise? Maybe supervised lifting of weights... Or is that a bad idea? If you don't know the answer, I strongly recommend asking the doctor because some painful, strenuous exercise helps with mental pain I have found.

He said he is over weight , so the strengthening will almost certainly help.
It is funny that my older brother went through life with constant back problems, he tried every sort of pain med out there, all sorts of physio and then finally a little bit of surgery.
HE DID ALLLLLLLLLL of these things to try and fix his back EXCEPT lose the 30+ Kgs of fat from his gut.
Now my lovely missus on the other hand was a tad overweight and had suffered back and shoulder pain most of her life, i put her on my special 2 codeine at night and no food during the day diet (as much as you want between 9pm and bed though) and after losing 50kg is now pain free.
    Swear it's a true story.

Try getting in and out of a truck cabin lots of times before you waste money on getting a mr licence.

Have a guess which part of the body gets injured the most when truck driving. Also consider that part of a drivers work involves loading, securing and unloading freight...no good if your backs permanently rooted.

I did a serious mischief to my back when young and in early 20s was in danger of no longer being able to walk. Tai Chi was the answer for me. Many years of it, but you'd never know there was a problem now, most years.

Came here to check what the deal that has been struck with Greece was. I am not disappointed.

I decided today that I really dont want to go on the DSP.

I cant stand sitting around the house all day with no money and nothing to do.

Tonight I am updating my resume and cover letters and will continue sending out resumes for anything I can get.

I would'nt mind being a forklift operator but ALL of that work is completely casual.

It sucks because I have 10 years experience with forklifts but it still does'nt get me anywhere.

Oh well at least thers not going to be a 2nd GFC due to a Greek default!
