spot falls, outlook for silver is poor, steady price = high premiums become higher premiums

This time of year is not a good time to be selling anything. People are short of cash or on holiday. As I said in a PM recently - I'm also finding over the last few months that SS is too focused on spot price and not what an item is worth (ie premiums). There have been several items I have tried to sell on here at a fair price and had little or no interest and yet when it has been listed on ebay - the items have sold for 10-30% more than I was asking for on here. More than covers the ebay/paypal fees.

Below data from Greg McDonalds latest 2012 Price Guide, now remember these are effected by spot price and even in the book spot was valued at $33.33AU so based on that and the fact that Stackers are generally a bullion buyer site. The price would need to reflect that. If you want to get the higher rate you would need too look at ebay.

Your prices may not be high but it may not be the right Market here ATM.

    Series 1 oz Lunars Silver
    1999 Rabbit 23 $80 (McD2012 - $60)
    2005 Rooster 22 $80 (McD2012 - $60)
    2006 Dog 19 $70 (McD2012 - $60)
    2008 S2 Mouse 2 $48 (McD2012 - $60)

    2003 Kookaburra 5 $55.00 (McD2012 - $85)

Did the Kooks go and were they snapped up ? Hope that helps if it is what Stackers are thinking.

woow Austacker im gonna say this blokes guide is pretty ugly! i dont think a Series 2 mouse has ever been worth that much!
and i would be buying alot more Series 1 if they were worth $60 ea but thanks for letting me know i did ask the question!
im thinking the holidays period and that silver is so cheap everyones getting on the spot prices!

$85 for kooks common guys im selling cheap get on it PM now :) im just double checking with the kooks but feel free to PM me.

    S2 Mice aren't $60.
A more realistic price is $42.
(at least that's what a few sold for today)

But, it's mostly because spot has dropped and people are wary about paying premiums.
Before spot dipped below $32/oz I would have sold my Ox/Dragons for the price I am asking (because I did actually sell some then)
    Now, however, they won't.
But I'd rather hold as I don't need the cash desperately.

I agree and I don't think there is a great deal of rarity yet on these. Good luck mate.

your prices are too high given spot is $29.00.

    Kooks should be under $50

Series 1 Lunars around $70 max except snake and dragon you could ask more.

You can pick up series 1 lunars like monkey, goat in the $60's now.

Snake closer to $90 I believe and Dragon is still north of $100 IMHO.

I know what you mean I think there is several factors. I think alot of people that buy lunar coins put all theyre money into all the Dragon varietys, then silver tanked and so everyone is broke and if not they are just buying cheaper bullion and taking advantage of low spot prices. Plus when PMs are at a hi everyone thinks its going to the moon and buys all they can and when they are going down in price like now everyone thinks we'll see silver go back to $5 so knowone wants to buy anything. Somewhat psycological if you ask me but lunars arent the only coins takeing a hit , the chinese coins , american coins european coins Kooks they have all been taking a beating. I certainly believe though it is a good buyers market now , take advantage if you can and prices will go up again , it is all part of the ebb and flow.
