    It's a Precious metals forum.
Here we can swap info and discuss things
that increase the possibility of making money from Precious metals.Anything that distracts from that politics, religion, flying saucers, etc or is inflammatory has no place here.
People pushing ideologies have many forums on the internet to go too.
    Come here to discuss PM's.

I'm perfectly happy with the forum, just have to filter out the handbags flying at times. There are far worse places on the internet and definitely people with way too much time in their hands.

It would be "nicer" if the message was debated and not the person ... this though seems to be the way of text-based conversations. The revenge of the introverts I call it ... Oh wait, I am an introvert.

We have to be careful what we ask for I think. If you want more moderation then with that comes subjectivity of censorship (though one could argue this already exists in some implicit form) and I like to think this place has the possibility of encompassing some of the "free-thinking" aspects of being a stacker. Censorship has no place there.

Perhaps it's a case of "if you have an issue with posts then make the request to stick to topic" on the thread ie let the community here self-regulate, meaning introverts like me for example who read just about every thread including the entertaining ones, could speak up and request civility instead of lurking.

    Yes, back.

Had 24hrs to cool down and was admittedly pretty damn annoyed but it was interesting to see the feedback from people 'after the event' and see where they stood.

Reno and I clearly don't get along and I'll make a better effort to be cordial with him and let it lie. Whilst we clearly both think we're in the right, I do value the forum integrity above that sort of thing and I'd hate to see GP having to resort to OTT moderation.

I'm sure he's got better things to do and if we have to call upon him constantly, it's to all our detriment to do so.

Besides, I've investment too much time, effort and emotion into this community to give up on it and outspoken and opinionated as I might be, I can't imagine how damn boring the place would be without a little back and forth.

One of my major gripes with the broader community is that people are not valuing the process of thinking for yourself.

Regardless of which camp you park your ideas in, at least if people are thinking about things, they are headed in the right direction.

I'll look to tone it down in the future though.

Thanks for those who spoke up in support of my presence here.

Back to your normally scheduled programming...

I second that. I believe the forum is just fine the way it is.

Aus - your post count would be circa 5004 by now.
I'm sure that you will get back ahead of me again in no time at all.

Way over that actually. It was somewhere around 8000 on my original account, then just over 1500 on the last one.

Realistically, I'm somewhere in the region of 10,000 posts on SS since I joined at the start of 2010.

    Doesn't really matter, it's just a number.

Like I said, I've invested a lot of time, effort, heart and soul into this community because I believe (passionately) in what it stands for.

I can get heated under the collar when provoked, but I can't turn my back on this place permanently unless I wasn't given the choice.

Sometimes I just need to walk away and cool down for a day or two, but I always come back (as others here have already noted).

I've (hopefully) helped a lot of people over the last couple years here and I've learned a lot from others as well.

I think this forum and the community are worth fighting for & preserving.

The core ideals & fundamentals of being a Stacker is something I hold quite close to my heart, so I'll suck up the angst and move forward, hopefully to keep bringing info and discussions that benefit the people that come here.

I get that people don't want to see endless mud slinging & that's something I'll definitely try and work on.

You can have a difference of views and opinion without derailing threads and dragging them down into the mud & I've seen from the replies here that this is the core reason why people are getting upset - so it's something I'll work harder on in the future.

    Cheers.

Spectators (parochial or passive) and players alike can say what they want. Ultimately it's the referee who makes the calls.

Nearly 6000 posts on SS under your alias says you have a fair amount invested here as well, even enough to pony up silver to support it (and good on you for doing so!).

It's not bollocks hiho, we all support the community and effort in our own ways & believe in what SS represents.

Just 5 minutes of reading back on what I post here should show anyone that I'm quite passionate about my beliefs and what I write.

If you didn't care, you wouldn't have contributed as much as you have already.

Youre definately passionate . Why dont you try to be a bit realistic sometimes to balance it out
