Hi guys, I'm keen to purchase bullion from the PM Bullion in the coming week to take advantage of the fall in gold prices.

My question is which is better from an investment point of view... a 1oz Australian Kangaroo or 2 x 1/2 oz lunar dragons or 4 x 1/4 oz lunar dragons?

    Thanks!

Smaller sizes 'generally' provide more liquidity, however you'll pay the extra premium for them.

    4 x 1/4 oz lunars (if costs = same)

    no doubt.

    I would even consider 10 x 1/10 oz

Personally I prefer 1/4 oz because they are more liquid, but you are paying a higher premium for less ounces due to the cost of minting etc.

I have noticed 1/2 oz go like hot cakes, so I would get two 1/2 oz dragons personally

Thanks guys! I'm actually leaning towards the fractionals rather than 1oz, but the sticking point is the amount of premium I'd be paying for the same 1oz of gold.... hmmm.

Think of the premiums as a mini deposit that you'll get back.

When you sell, you will get your premium back, not to mention how liquid they will be.

One ounce, but any combo is fine.

Definitely get the Dragons over Kangaroos. You can buy past year proof Nugget/Kangaroo issues at bullion prices (I've got everything from 1/10oz to 1oz proofs I've bought as bullion) - most previous Lunar gold coins command a premium.

Check buy back prices before deciding.
Sometimes the larger weight ( e.g. 1 oz single coin ) will gain 8% over selling 10 x 1/10 oz.

    1 ounce minimum.
I don't like paying premiums just to have smaller denominations... and there will always be people like me who you can sell to :p
