If I had any PM, hypothetically speaking, I would vouch for Guardian Vaults on William St in Melbourne. Apparently, so I've been told, they're very secure, and very pleasant to deal with. Or so I've heard...

Not sure about any private ones, though some of the old bank branches in the CBD have safe custody.
I worked in a wbc branch on king/castlereagh st (the trust building) years ago and they have a pretty cool old safe custody service.
you sign the book, be verified then a button is pressed which opens a big heavy black grill. this cage slides back disappearing into the wall.
once behind to the left are two viewing booths which are given the privacy of a curtain.(the bank officer has a desk adjacent) the booths have simple wooden bureaus with velvet lining. But before you sit there your directed right towards the tall rows of numbered boxes. Bank officer turns his key then leaves, you turn yours and go to the private viewing boothWhen I use to relieve (this safe custody is run by the same guy since the mid 80's. he used to be the limo chauffer for westpacs c.e.o before they got rid of that perk.

some things to take into consideration are:

you can only access during banking hours.
And safe custody brings in a counter party
