Wonder if the Governments around Australia will disclose which gangs bank with which banks? :)

If there is so much money in drugs and bikie gangs, wonder what tax they declare.

Maybe they don't trust banks and keep it all in $$$ under the beds or maybe they stack PM's.

You answered your own question, all illgotten $$$ is cash in a hole or under the bed, whatever is laundered through small businesses/pokies/casinos technically aren't illgotten afterwards unless it could be proved.

Where can you put money into the system? Tattoo shops are a good example, "today we did $5000.00 in trade" but not one person came through the door say the coppers........ Pay tax on it, claim expenses and the money is in an account legally. They also own a lot of service stations (not sure exactly how that works for them with putting cash through them?)

There are a fair few of them on newstart allowance which is a bit rude, I suppose they think they need to do it or they would have a $0.00 tax return and people would ask questions.

One thing they do well is co-operation, if you get a group of people who pool resources and have a common goal you will always do better than individuals. They also know the system and they play that system, you will always achieve more by playing outside of the system.

Selling Redback's for $1,000/oz on eBay (or generic "antiques" and "collectables").

Can probably add XAGs to that now that the Slovenian and Gold Coast mafias are involved :|

"Collectables" like these maybe. Russian mafia like them apparently ;)

Don't forget gambling. Go in with $10k of cash, lose $6000 of it, go home with $4000 of "winnings" to bank.

Wouldn't it be cheaper to pay tax on income from a 'legitimate' cash business.

They don't need to actually gamble. Baccarat.

One group shows up and places a bet that is a hefty percentage of the table limit on 'Banker'. A confederate group, shows up and bets an equal amount on Player.

If 'Banker' wins, the casino pays 95% of the Banker wager. If 'Player' wins the confederates wins even money.

The house keeps 5%, and the management gets to raise the 'drop' which makes them look good.

The winning group of confederates give the chips to the bagmen, who gets runners to withdraw the clean money out over a period of time in smaller amounts (to avoid cash transaction reporting). Since the money is clean, they can even have traceable avenues like bank checks or wire transfers.
