Does anyone know which day the banks are re-opening in Cyprus? I have'nt seen any threads about bank runs or massive electronic withdrawels yet?
Oops i just did a quick check and found this.... Theyre opening today with max 300 Euro withdrawal limit to prevent a bank run! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-21963116
Ye I just tried usuing a world time clock page and it said it's 9.30am over at moment.......... Tonights going to be a great start to the easter weekend for all the latest news on what happens over there..... Will there be a bank run?
Should be interesting to see the reaction of people or the lack of reaction. I'm disappointed in the lack of looting so far from Cypriots. It's not really a social upheaval without at least a little looting
I was listening to a news reporter a few hours ago who was saying there were 6 foreign journos outside a bank branch in Nicosia and no one else at all - no queues for the bank etc....
3000 Euto limit to take overseas...and limits on debit & Credit cards while overseas...Cyprus is Argentina!! Mind you 300 per day x 5 days per week = 6000 per month. then jump on a galopie accross the 'mediterranean sea' across to whatever port you choose.
I just heard on my online audio source that the banks ARE NOT going to open today....... Too much money being to be lost!
O.k it looks like they are going to open.. Media is saying its all pretty quiet at the moment..... go figure! http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2013/mar/28/eurozone-crisis-cyprus-banks-reopen-security
The Cyprus stock market is remaining closed today or is that the corner fruit market where Con will also sell you chickens and goats? :S
I cannot believe how quiet it is on the streets over there.....no lines out the front of banks or anything....quite strange..
I don't think they're opening until mid-day, although the way this has rolled out there will probably be an announcement at mid-day to say 2pm/tommorow etc. etc..... I too had expected to see pics of molotov cocktails by now, perhaps apathy is the way go over there now too? She'll be right mate :/
This Convoy Of Trucks Is Reportedly Carrying Tons Of Euros To Prepare For Cyprus Banks Opening In Just Hours http://au.businessinsider.com/trucks-carry-cash-for-cypriot-banks-2013-3
mmmm the fluoride is strong in this people... Bit unimpressed really like a load of sheep off to the shearers
Only minutes to go guys..... Whats going to happen..... Massive electronic withdrawals or nothing to right home about???
I reckon they will think stuff the banks and take out as much as possible over the next few weeks..... So it will be a delayed bank run...... But still a bank run.
