It's probably been done to death, but I've seen these for under spot, and I'm wondering if there's anything wrong with them. I know a thing is 'worth' whatever someone is willing to pay for it, but what would you pay? Personally, I'd have a go at anything if it was under spot, but the $200 RAM gold does seem over-represented in that category. Last one I saw was $400 buy-it-now on fleabay.
Yes, I noticed that. I calculated current spot for it as $476.55, (10g/9.16gAGW@1618 per toz) so was a bit surprised to see one for $400. I hate it when the bargains pop up when I don't have any fiat. Here: someone else have a look at it. Original sleeve and inserts too, apparently. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BRAND-NE...270841859211?pt=AU_Coins2&hash=item3f0f6ecc8b
The seller has only three items for sale, all $200 coins, all for $400 each. Could be perfectly legit, i'd do some more research on the seller first though.
Thanks. I was going to contact and ask them for more pics, but I'll leave it for someone who actually has the fiat. Goodnight all!
sounds to good to be true , especially when other $ 200.00 on fleabay are going for around the $ 475 - $ 530 mark, which is about the right price. just my two cents worth . but if all above board , good luck to the buyer .
Last lot I bought were for $260 each, granted that was about 3-4 years ago but they were still under spot. They just don't seem as popular as sovereigns, they are not as easily recognised, particularly outside of Australia.
It's sold now. I suspect it was an error by the lister since the other 2 are auction starting at 400. If the seller honors the transaction someone was a winner.
I just bought another set of POA (Pride of Australia) $200 coins. This set comes in a really cool Oak presentation Box. I personally think these coins are the best value for money gold out there. The biggest issue with them is they attract GST due to being 22Carat. But if your taking them overseas to trade, then that's not an issue. Your limited to taking 50 out at a time though Personally I love em... But wouldn't expect a price differential between proof and uncirculated. In actual fact the uncirculated versions are rarer, and should probably fetch more. PS. I have a bunch for sale at Spot plus $20 per coin.
Seller must have clicked 'buy it now' by mistake - considering the description said 'starting price' and the other 2 coins are not buy it now. Would be very surprised if the transaction is completed. If I was the buyer I'd just back out if asked - not worth the hassle of forcing the issue.
Same seller now has 6 RAM $200 gold koalas for $450 buy it now. Must've gotten impatient with the starting-at-$400- auctions. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BRAND-NE...270842319302?pt=AU_Coins2&hash=item3f0f75d1c6

+1 I just looked at the sales and feedback as well and I wouldn't touch this seller with a 20 foot barge pole Could be legit but I wouldn't be willing to risk a couple of grand to find out
I asked if there was Local pickup he said yeah an gave a number so maybe? You Adelaide guys check it out
It's no biggie. If anything, it's a lesson in d.y.o.d.d. I would never buy something from eBay unless I could see both sides of the coin, plus folders and inserts, (if they're claiming it's a coin with folders and inserts), and was from someone with solid positive feedback, etc. I don't see anything on there atm that differs wildly from the range and prices you can get on this forum.
Sometimes you come across elderly folks selling things on ebay who are pretty bad with techhnology and make wierd listing mistakes and put in poor photos and descriptions. But seeing as all those other items pop up makes it look a tad shady doesnt it?
