You guys must know a hell of a lot about numismatics! I follow a rule I learned somewhere along the path..

..the only thing rarer than a rare coin is a buyer willing to pay its fair value price..

So that was a bargain for that coin? Do you stack many numismatics like this?

    Cheers.

The only 'numismatics' I dabble in are 1937 Crowns and Parliament florins, but even then I only really value them on future silver content potential rather than collectability.

Numismatics are for the gambler in you ;)

May as well by an iphone 4 and keep it unopened in the box for 20 years. Same diff. Meh. I don't like numies. Overvalued IMO.
..I used to collect toys of varying styles..then realised I was wasting my cash..so I got rid of them, cut my losses and now collect REAL money.

Except this is a 2007 year coin, a 4 year wait.....

The bargain part is getting them for less than $40 or for nothing in my case and then realizing the current price when selling, or in Matts case sitting on them and seeing them go even higher in another year or three. :)

Yeah how many of these so called "bids" actually end up in coughing up the cash is another question.

    Paid up within seconds.

Retracted bids are a nasty little sideline for some , they can use this tactic to find the highest current bid and then retract their highest bid and lie in wait until the last seconds of the auction and pop in with ten or twenty $ above the known previous highest .

I am pretty gobsmacked at the price realized for this tho, And I am also the last to complain.

A nice little Kanga I got for SFA paid for a Treasures of Aus pearl for less than Perth mints current price (even the postage was less) and went a long way towards a Gilded Reg Mombasa 2008 kanga as well. Turned $50 into well over a grand in a couple of months :D .

My only regret on Ebay lately is missing the nice little Vic penguin posted above.....Damn that school parking..... an oz with premium for $1 .
