Got a mate in Hong Kong looking to buy a monster box of pandas - what premium could one normally expect to pay over spot for a monster box? He's been quoted 40% over spot for 2012s.

40% feels a bit excessive to me.

    I'd say around 20-25%?

I will not be so optimistic, 25 % in this case this will mean that price will be around 220rmb, what is great price, but today CGC price for 2011 1 oz silver monster box ( 30pcs set ) is 290rmb pcs, and they were buying for 260rmb pcs, what is more than 40% premium on spot.

I feel the pain, then I see specials now that are $100's of dollars cheaper than the ones that I am waiting on. I know it could have gone the other way as well, but it is frustrating.

But buying Pandas in China has always been expensive due to tax...

Nobody should be sourcing monster boxes of latest Pandas from China if they are thinking about $$$.

    +1 Fishball.

China is good for the rare Pandas...
The West/rest is good for the newer Pandas...

Some Chinese people fly over to the West to buy Pandas (silver and gold), and return them to China for a profit. I would like to be in this club... but alas, not within my reach just yet.

I agree, i was referring about price in HK who dont have good offer of Silver coins due lack of interest for silver, but also in this kind of transaction u need to care about exchange rate and shipping fee, there is no tax between USA and HK as i know for bullion coins as i know.

How is $38.40 AUD per coin for a 2011 (not 2012) monster box? Still 41% over spot, but are 2011s. This is over the counter for physical possession in Hong Kong.

Seems ok, individual 2011s can sell for above $45 relatively easily right now.

I think it'd be hard to find any monster boxes out there at a lower price.

$38.50 is a very good price. The best I have seen for a 2011 in Hong Kong is $41.20 and if you buy a tray of 30. Individually it's being sold at about $43.80. What may I ask is this shop with such attractive prices? Or could it be a year-end sale of some sort?

    I wish I could buy the 2011s at $38.50! :)

I would quickly go to HK to get these if it is true.

I'm pretty sure I could then sell them in the Mainland for a quick profit! :)

It looks like about $7.50 over spot here in the US, nobody has them but dealers like Gainsville and Provident are taking pre- orders based upon spot the day of arrival in there hands + 7.50,8 million coins ,thats bullion IMO, once everyone has them here ,they will probably drop to $4.00 over spot, then the major dealers will grade them to get $100 plus a pop for MS70 coins

I agree, but compared to the others (ASE, maple, kook...) they are the best looking coin so even at 8m I'm gonna get some if they are to the 2011 standard
