I thought it may be fun to see who has had some success in a small way that is a little out of the blue. My little win was. I go to my local bank regularly and get change, they know I collect coins and I have mentioned a few things like the 2000 $1 mule etc... I also mentioned about the round 66 Fifties, the other day I was in and the teller that served me said hang on a sec, went into a draw and pulled out a round 66 she added to my change and that was my little win. The other which is a little bigger, I was at the MIL's house and on the table were two old biscuit tins, after a while and once the coffee was served she said I should have a look what was in there, well I was blown away there was Crowns, Shillings some year sets and heap of Penny's WOW was I chuffed. So with a big hug and kiss thanks, I had a heap of sorting to do. So what little wins have you had recently ?
That's a 150% return on investment! Not even silver is doing that well . Who said lotto wasn't worth entering?
My wife went into a local coin store near her work at lunch yesterday and when probing on what stock they had found they had 1966's for $9.50 each at the moment (because they were dirty). Bought 10 and gave them to me as a gift which I cleaned up to this : I was happy!
Walked into the bank the other day to pay rent and found a $50 note on the ground.... *whistles and casually walks out*
If found a $50 bag of $2 coins wedged between the side of my desk and the bookshelf. Damned cat must have pushed them off the edge months ago. "Oh hai. I losted ur coins."
Scored a handful British raj Indian silver rupees during my trip to India. They are about the same size and weight as the 1966 50c and they look beautiful. They look like these. Still waiting for them to arrive here http://www.flickr.com/photos/22955235@N00/417149440/in/photostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/22955235@N00/417149442/in/photostream/
Went to the vending machine down the hall and two chocolate bars came down the chute instead of just one.
Found 20cents on the footpath, must've been picked up by a lawn-mower out of the grass. (I gave it a kick first to see if it wasn't glued down like in one of those candid camera set-ups)... but it was real and mine...all mine I tells ya!!
Got to love a Superglued $1 coin stuck to a tile in a busy shopping centre. We did this about 20+ years ago about 20 people went through and couldn't get it, then a kid of about 5 just walked up and picked it up DOH we were gobsmacked ? Others must have just about got it but no success.
