    Hi,
I got this $2 from change. This side has an error?! I think.
The floor looked melted, however, the struck is still perfect "2014 Elizabeth...", also next to 2014, there are another "014" as well, like incused, hard to see unless you till the coin to the right angle, or use the scope.
Not sure how to decribe this condition, sorry for the photo, used phone to take it.

Planchett error , my jeweller mate collects them ( I buy them for him)
Anywhere from $30-$40 maybe lucky to get $70
    I'll give you $1.80 for it :p

Looks like it might be a build up of grease in the die which when the planchette is struck takes the force out of the strike leaving it looking like that.

I haven't seen many and without seeing it in hand I couldn't tell you for sure.

no a grease strike would leave the original planchet intact and most likely smooth. this is a planchet flaw for sure and a good one to boot
can we see the other side and a close up of the year?

I gave the coin to auction house, as they need more time to check, they could not tell what happen at that time. So i dont have any more photos. But im sure there is "014" next tot the 2014, like double struck but incused, just opinion not sure.

So you are thinking a 'delamination' or something similar?

yes Jislizard, that would be my call, I would like to see if the coin was struck per or post delamination to confirm my theory but I have seen a few of these before and it is typical of a pre strike delamination error.
a rather large one at that, value wise you are in the woods a bit, error collectors are a weird bunch, people have their specialities and will pay more if they compete for a piece.
